Remember the Electric Light Orchestra
I guess that I was bored and needed something to fill the hours... :)Just wondering why they haven't gotten around to re-releasing ELO; I mean they are constantly re-releasing so many other artists' work from the 1970's... Of course, if you don't ...
How's the Audio Research Ref Phono 2 Working Out?
I actually borrowed the Ref Phono 2 from my local dealer this weekend (this is the second time I have auditioned it in home) and spent almost two full days listening. I also brought home the Ref 5 PreAmp to see how the two AR pieces sounded in my ...
This is Too Funny Vinyl is Still King
Gentlemen, gentlemen, this one is probably over... :)
This is Too Funny Vinyl is Still King
Mr. Fremer, running that video clip at the start of your TT seminars at RMAF would be great fun I think; attendees would get a really big kick out of that... Guess we will see you there in October; looking forward to it again this year!
Changing from an XV1-S
Here's another thought and question on the XV-1s; is there such thing as a cartridge that is very, very, close to the XV-1s in sound quality and overall character, but at a more reachable cost? A "poor man's" XV-1s?
Grado Earbuds
I tried the Grado earbuds; way too hot on top for my tastes....YMMV...I ended-up with the Klipsch X5; they are excellent!
Changing from an XV1-S
Oh yeah, my phono is the Hovland HP-100...
Changing from an XV1-S
I understand, it's not that simple. I was being a little facetious...This does show I think, how challenging and frustrating it can be to move to a new cartridge. I guess that you have to rely to a great extent on your dealer's expertise and exper...
Changing from an XV1-S
I love these conversations! So, is it safe to say that if a audiophile upgrades from a Dynavector 20-xl (using a Dyna 507 MKII arm) that regardless of the following upgrade option chosen, either a Dyna XV-1s, or a Ortofon A90, or a Grado The State...
Changing from an XV1-S
So, after all of that; which is the "better" cartridge, a XV1's or an Ortofon A90, or maybe a Grado The Statement? :)
Changing from an XV1-S
Thom, wondering if you can comment on the relative differences, benefits, and performance, of the VX-1s and the Grado The Statement1? I have read several reviews that swear that the Grado is extremely good and it costs $2,200 less than the XV-1s......
Tried the Grado Statement1?
Interesting. It's tempting to try the Grado, especially when you consider that it costs $2,300 less than the XV-1s. And, it's made right here in the good old USA...What did your Statement1 replace?
Back On the Topic of Driving 3.6's
Power? Watts or Current? 1000 watts from a Cary 500MB or huge current and a 100 watts pure class A from a Pass XA100.5?
Go analog or upgrade digital
There is a nice used EAR 834P Deluxe for sale on Audiogon... Probably a very, very, good phono for the money...
Go analog or upgrade digital
I have been in this hobby for over thirty years and like so many other 'audiophiles' I jumped on the 'Perfect Sound Forever' bandwagon back in the 1980's and stayed out of vinyl for many, many years. What a mistake!!! About three years ago I purch...
