Soundstage and image height, does it exist? I consider soundstage and imaging an important part in stereo's ability to pull me into the music. I started a thread on the ASR forum asking the experts if there were measurements for that and another thread inquiring about resolution. In my rea...
my own experience with Tekton Design daros71, your struggles with the C60's were well documented and hard to miss. That we each have a flavor we prefer notwithstanding, your thread is appreciated and wholly believable. It's good for you that you found a pair of speakers that make y...
What if a high end speaker measures really badly? I can respect that horn lovers prefer dynamics to flat response. There was a good argument for the fletcher munson curve also. A flat speaker nearly always sounds bass shy.
Beryllium Tweeters I think dome compound is just a piece of the puzzle. I’m currently listening to a tweeter that’s made of aluminum, lithium and magnesium and hand on heart, my last 4 speakers used BE tweeters and I don’t hear any dropoff in detail coarse’ I probab...
What if a high end speaker measures really badly? Yeah, speakers with lumpy response can tailor our setlist because while they take some songs over the top, they hold others back. Companies like B&W have obviously done some research on their target market and tune their speakers for them I'm ...
I did the right thing after all. I have a local dealer that had the persona 7f in his main listening room for 2 years and every time I stopped in the components were different and so was the speakers presentation. Having never heard Tekton or Canton I can't offer any advice, that...
Esoteric Amps with Revel Salon 2 Speakers It is surprising what the right amp can do with just 1-2 watts. I still recommend the try before you buy scenario.
Esoteric Amps with Revel Salon 2 Speakers I had the parasound A 21 250/425 and also the Hegel H360 that has similar power ratings, but is more neutral than the A 21 yet both didn't have enough to get the bass the salon 2 are renowned for. Also, if I tried to drive the speakers to 90+ db l...
Anyone listen to entire albums? sometimes there's music I don't really like that has a single I love, but usually I listen to complete titles.
Revel Performa3 F208 question I'd look for speakers with higher sensitivity and probably more bass.
Best Covers Am I the only one who loved Manfred Manns earth bands two covers of Bruce Springsteen? Blinded by the light Spirits in the night and while you’re in the way back machine roll ‘For you’ also.
Looking for the next level in imaging... moving to Mac, the Mc611's and c49 took my speakers to another level (or 3) without changing speakers. If you have the freedom to try a different wall, say going from the short to long wall and pull speakers 3-5' from all boundarys also. For the f...
Your thoughts on best audiophile speakers in $10,000 neighborhood? Like roxy1927 said, buy used so u can demo at home. For larger rooms the Usher Be 20 DMD is fantastic, legacy Meridian DSP 8000’s, for average size rooms D&D comes in first. Dali Epicon 8, retail $25k used $11k. Haven’t heard the NS5000 but tr...
Thinking of Magnepan ... finally! I only heard a used pair of affordable maggies in a little 10x10' room at a local dealer, but for the $600 he was asking I was impressed! The kind of magic those speakers were making is generally reserved for the $10k and up club.
Use escrow service to pay for speakers? As a seller I won't ship without the money to a private party and as a buyer I only shop in an area I'm willing to drive to. Consider paypal fees and shipping costs and it's often just as cheap as working with a local shop. |
