KEF LS50 Wireless II vs. Harbeth P3esr
I liked panzrwagn's post explaining what's happening. It's really as simple as that.
Vienna Acoustics 'The Music'
USAM has a free listing options with affordable listing upgrades, they don't have the rep ag does yet, but we could communicate there
Speaker recommendations :-)
I've been through several of the $20-30k speakers the last 7 years and its fair to say I didn't devote money to components for each pair I tried, they eithe worked or didn't work with my hegel h360 or later h590. That out of the way there's some s...
Perlisten S5t
It’s funny to me to hear people boycott imported products because it’s usually the party that got rid of all the import tariffs that kept American manufacturing price competitive that are doing the loudest whining. We are in a global market and ev...
Amps to match kef blade2
I don't know where you're located, but if anywhere in the chicagoland area I could let you try the H 590 with your blades. I broke down and went with Mac Mc611's and a c49 so my h590 is not in use.
Midrange Increasingly Harsh
That you changed speaker wires to the 4 ohm taps on your amp b4 replacing the tubes and heard a slight improvement does show component issue between speakers and amp and replacing the tubes should return the sound to what you're used to. ferroflui...
Aavik U-150, U-180 or U-280
Aavik is soo expensive I would appreciate knowing what you guys had previously come from
FYI: Dynaudio Evidence Masters are being made again!
This current hifi marketing thing with companies competing for the most expensive product doesn't impress me and if dynaudio is bringing back a 20+ year old design so they can have an $85k product to boast I'm packing up my toys and going home.
Loudspeaker sensitivity and dynamics: are the two inexorably linked?
Paul Klipsch gets quoted for saying he just wished somebody would make a quality 5 watt amplifier, (hopefully I didn’t butcher that quote too bad) I’m not sure how the math works, but I would think the difference in sensitivity can be evened out b...
PS Audio Aspen FR20: Planar Floorstanding Speakers
I saw and heard the first attempt from ps audio at axpona before covid locked everything down and was much less impressed, in fact they seemed to have no upper mids to speak of. I haven't heard this latest iteration, but appreciate the original de...
Hegel H160 -> Hegel H390 upgrade suggestion
I had the H160,360, and H190 at the same time and loved the 190, but bought the 360 for the big power rating...The 160 is an older dac and you would hear the difference moving to the h190. I bought a project pre s2 digital to get hi rez streaming ...
Mcintosh amp suggestion
You'll probably only use the first 6 watts of any Mac you buy because they seem to be very fast with loads of headroom so just get the one that fits your budget.
The mistake armchair speaker snobs make too often
I don't understand the argument, but want to say not all of us want to invest in a kit we have no way to hear until paid for. Accuton, Seas, Scanspeak, etc all make quality drivers that push the sota, but who's demoing the finished products? I thi...
Perlisten S5t
I spent several hours listening to the s7t at a local dealer. While tonal balance was very good and bass was tight I didn't find the images realistic in size, An Avi Kaplan song has the acoustic guitar larger than life while his voice was dwarf li...
New KEF R11 META : The Real Giant Killers !
Kef were pioneers back in the day experimenting with new materials to achieve better control over speaker sound. Their speakers are pretty neutral, but there are brands that sacrifice absolute neutrality for their specific 'house sound' that can b...
