ATC SCM40 No offense intended.
What to ask when buying used speakers? I've had buyers drive from 400 to 900 miles to pick up a pair of used speakers and I've driven as much as 350 to buy a pair. Again, paypal is 4%, Agon is 4% shipping on a pair of floorstanding speakers on a pallet and insured will be expensive. Su...
ATC SCM40 I always thought the appeal of ATC, besides the midrange driver that had its day, but would now probably among a group of quality mids, was that they were active and could be relied on to sound consistent compared to passive brands?
KEF Blade or Blade 2 Doing a google search on some product led me to an agon post that was clearly written by me back in the phone modem days with a different screen name and email address I'd completely forgotten about. Thanks for clarifying. I was also one that tri...
KEF Blade or Blade 2 Did you change your screen name? I know i'm late, I forget to check in. With the Blade meta's out I think the original Blade's are a flat out bargain. I stayed away from them for years because the first write up I read I think the journalist claim...
can subwoofers make things worse? YES. Other than truck/car audio and HT the money spent on subs could be added to a speaker budget and if one's strapped for cash there's plenty of used, floor standing active speakers out there that will deliver the goods and take less floor space.
Help with speaker selection <$20k had the salon 1 and 2. Agree the s2 are clinical side of musical compared to usher be20dmd, Meridian DSP8000se, VA beethoven and persona 7f. I never heard the Aerial 10t so don’t know what you’re used to. A full, rich midrange while sounding more ...

Speakers - Your "Safest" Choice I'd take a trip to FLA to shop $40k speakers selling for $15k, in fact I'd make it an annual event.
Efficient speakers -- What was your journey from A to B to ? My old Kef R105/3 had a 93.5 rating and would play insanely (114 db in room) loud without distortion.
Speaker that are 'KEEPERS" for the long haul!!! 110 replies and 90 different answers! No love for Vivid audio? Nobody mentioned Usher audio either. Genesis anybody, wtfarkle? I have a pair of KEF Blades with a pair of Mc611's driving them and yeah, they're gettin' it done. My previous was a ...
Speakers - Your "Safest" Choice What I did was shopped the market to get a feel for actual value, read all the reviews of the speakers in my price range and then shopped used so I could get my money back if my ears didn't hear what everyone else did. I learned that when a revi...
Have you found your "End-Game" speakers yet? I have. And it feels so good!!! stjernholm Those Dali Epikore are special and imho, better than the Kore considering how amplifier friendly they are.
My speaker upgrade journey - and a few questions That was a great pitch for ATC. well done sir.
What to ask when buying used speakers? If the speaker works now odds are it'll work another 20, so do you trust a stranger with your money? There could be a damaged driver that's squawking outside of their hearing ability or it was a gradual thing they adjusted to and don't notice. O... |
