Integrated amp for Focal Aria 948 speakers? SS or tube
For about 4400.00 you can get a new Prima Luna High Power integrated that blows away almost everything else out of the water.
Coming out of the blackhole called work...retirement
Congratulations on your retirement.  I retired 7 months ago and I have been upgrading both my systems.  Have fun and do not forget to listen, listen.
Amp away for 20 year upgrade...back-up amp to the rescue
If I am not mistaken, didn't Conrad Johnson build the McCormack amps in their factory?  If that is so, I would think it would match up well with  a CJ preamp.  Is the preamp tube or solid state?
Speaker audition recommendations?
+1akg_caI could only wish I could audition 11 different speaker brands.. I consider him very lucky. If he is married or has a gf, he could bring her along for a second set of ears and go out to lunch or dinner on the way back. That is what I have ...
Still looking for speakers in the 10-20,000 range
@ozzy62 My only reason for saying that (and it didn't come out the right way) was because of the answer you gave which was directed at Audio Connection.  I do know nothing about you and for that, I do apologize.  Take care.
Speaker audition recommendations?
I would personally go with the GE Triton Reference speakers or the Triton 1.  They got me off the speaker merry-go-round.
Amp away for 20 year upgrade...back-up amp to the rescue
@hifiman5 I sold both the Conrad-Johnson MF2550 and the Rogue RP-5 tube preamp and went with a McIntosh C2500 tube preamp and a McIntosh MC152 power amp.  This works much better in my room with the GE Triton References speakers.
Why am I hearing this?
Back in the early days, it was called "creep through".  That can happen when a component puts out more voltage than the other pieces.  As others have said, just turn that piece of equipment off.

@arcticdethI thought you were using Odyssey amps?
Still looking for speakers in the 10-20,000 range
@ozzy62 Johnny R at Audio Connections knows more about speakers than you forgot.  I have been in his showrooms and the Vandersteens blew me away, it didn't sound like the closed in treble shy 2ci's that I once had.  It sounded like pure music.
Amplifier speaker match
That Sumo was built by the late James Borgiorno, from GAS  (Great American Sound), Spread Spectrum, SAE and many others.  It should be a great Piece

Roger Waters, Radio KAOS
Where to go next, DAC or Preamp
I said that because I had their Dac 1 from about 6 years ago.  It was extremely bright sounding.
phono pre with Parasound halo 2.1 integrated
John.............What about using a SUT into the phono input?  Should help with your lowish output MC cartridge.
