Did I just ruin my amp What you saw was a tube arcing. I saw it once on a Rogue Cronus Magnum. The tube had a blue arc going up and down it. I replaced the tube and also the fuse that was in line with each tube, then had to rebias.
Feedback Problem Thanks for the link. I asked over on the VPI forum as well.
Odyssey Kismet Reference series. When I had my Odyssey amps, I ran them with both an Audible Illusions Modulus 3B and a Rogue RP-5. You could also get the Rogue RP-1 for half the money with 85% of the performance of the Rogue RP- 5.
Vandersteen Treo CT I am planning on dropping by sometime in January (weather permitting), and I would be up to meeting you guys. I need to purchase a new Cartridge from JohnnyR and have it mounted on the Prime 3D arm.
Audiotron Looks like a garage build.
Feedback Problem Do you think the Dynavecter DV20X2L cartridge would be a better match for my 3D arm?
Opinions on best integrated under 10k? If you are into McIntosh, I bought a 200wpc integrated amp from Audio Classics for $3200.00 used but it looks and plays like brand new. They have similar on their site with built in dac for less than 6K.
Can cables of any cost and quality provide bass response missing in my B&W speakers? Don't waste your money. While different cables have different attributes, if you don't have much bass, no cable will magicly give you bass.
Best course of action Vandersteen makes a powered sub that will work very well with your speakers.
Does a tube need the break-in hours? Uncle Kevvy from Upscale told me the 12au7 and 12ax7 tubes which were NOS would take around 50 hours to break in.
Analog integrated amp recommendation What about a Pass? I think they had a integrated 150 that went for $7500.00 I would check with Reno Sound as they carry all the used , closeouts and refurbished Pass equipment as well as new Pass equipment.
Feedback Problem I am wondering if the high output of the cartridge is amplifying the feedback to a greater extent? I didn’t hear it with the Denon perhaps because it’s output is so low it doesn’t amplify enough for the speakers to pick up?
Suggest an SACD/CD player under $6k I wouldn't go the dac route as you can't play the SACD layer through it.
Goldenear Reference Vs. Focal Sopra #2.....pocket the $5k difference and don't look back? First of all, GE designed all their own drivers for the Triton References and they certainly aren't cheap drivers slapped in a box. Their crossovers use all the best high end parts including Mondurf caps. The fact that they build them in China i...
Transaction make sure you give him good feedback if you haven't already. |
