Where has the respect gone?
Ezekiel, I appreciated where you are coming from and it takes a certain character to even bring this to other's attention. But I'd like to point out (if you haven't already noticed), that those on Agon are no different than those in any other hobby...
Audiogon and the Hi-Fi Mags
Audiogon should be considered a welcome addition to all but the industry die-hards who would rather preserve their crumbling tower than see the industry grow.Audiogon being a marketplace primarily for used goods (though that too is changing) is a ...
What's Going On?? Sound changes every night
Yes, Tomryan, it has everything to do with the power coming into the house. That's why some of us have recommended the dedicated circuits/lines and 'proper' line conditioning.-IMO

Can't afford the shipping? Hmmm. My Aerial 10Ts (about 350 lbs. boxed) shipped 1500 miles via UPS for about $200. Regarding the BAT vk-500's performance? Like I said, that was 4 amps ago. That should tell you something. If smaller speakers are your...

Cagliostro, I don't know which BAT amp you're considering, but I used to own a BAT VK-500 with BATPAK. That was about 4 amps ago.As for the speakers, if per chance you were to purchase a DNA-2 Revision A, you owe it to yourself to purchase full-ra...
Best Value System
I don't think you do understand. If you did, then you would realize that when the right foundation is in place, there are many more systems that could potentially be deemed a best value.Nevertheless, since my own system has remained nearly unchang...
Best Value System
Thf, perhaps I wasn't clear either. What I was trying to say is that in my opinion and experience, there is no such thing as a 'best system' unless those ingredients I listed above have been properly addressed.Metaphorically, you are a house build...
What's Going On?? Sound changes every night
Perhaps a mood ring will help you determine when it's time to listen. :)Seriously though, as you suspect, I believe the symptons you describe appear to be the symptoms of dirty or poorly treated AC coming into your home. You've invested too much in...

Cagliostro, if others are telling you that the McCormack wouldn't be that nice with overly "bright" speakers..., then perhaps they are confusing the DNA- Revision amps with the DNA off-the-shelf amps. With a Revision A or better DNA-2 amp, you shou...
Synergy - Mix and Match - Solid State of Mind
I am not aware of any preferences as you state, as I've used the same pair of full-range speakers for the last 4 years now. My Aerial 10T's are 4ohm loads and a rather low sensitivity of 84 or 86db.BTW, you might check out smcaudio.com for the McC...
Synergy - Mix and Match - Solid State of Mind
I am not aware of any noises/audible distortions (such as when idle). As for black silences, the best I can say is that the silences are there and they are not there. The silence is there because this is a very fast amp. The rise and fall time is a...

Lean? The LAE, yes. the Revision A, far from it.Do not be confused with off-the-shelf DNAs and Revision A DNAs.-IMO
Synergy - Mix and Match - Solid State of Mind
I heard the Caravelles at THE Show and they are an excellent speaker.I used to own a McCormack DNA-2 LAE. The LAE is everything they said it is/was (Peter Moncrief of IAR proclaimed it the best SS amp in 1998). But the LAE simply is no match for m...
Looking to compare SACD sound with redbook
Gammajo, I've been using a Sony SCD-1 SACD/cd unit for the last 3 years without complaint. You may find that it's build quality and construction is unparalleled for it's price range and it's sonics should match just about anything near it.I would ...
Looking to compare SACD sound with redbook
I would not underestimate the musical information and listening pleasure that can be extracted from the redbook formatted cds. But if it makes you nervous, you might consider an excellent cd player that just so happens to do SACD as well.-IMO
