hospital grade or commercial grade receptacles ?
Hubbell and FIM are both excellent. However, it's sonically more beneficial to go with which ever receptacle has been cryogenically treated.-IMO
Left channel much louder than right?
You say you know that it's not a tube or interconnect. How do you know it's not the ics?I encountered a similar problem at the same time I purchased new preamp. Therefore, I swore it was the preamp. But then after performing a series of tests with ...
how to increase power?
My suggestion applies more toward higher current drawing amps, but even so, I would first install this amp on it's own dedicated circuit/line.Not only might your AC be perhaps just a tad less noisy translating to an ever so quieter noise-floor, bu...
sacd,vinyl, and rebook....
In my opinion, there's a lot of musical information buried in redbook cds that, once extracted, can make the differences of any format negligible. I consider dedicating much time toward extensive vibration control, AC treatments, and line-conditio...
Need help with Surround processor
I don't know about similar, but you might want to take a look at the Primare pre/pro. It retails for around $4k and I've compared it's sonics are very competitive to the Pass Labs X-1 and X 2.5 solid state 2-channel preamps as well as other more a...
Amplifier Speed
In my opinion it would absolutely be an issue but perhaps not as you may anticipate regarding timing, tempo, and signal arrival. A 4 minute and 36 second musical track will still take exactly 4:36 regardless of the matching or mis-matching of amps...
How's my imaging?
Some speakers just seem to provide a higher soundstage for vocals. My Aerial 10t's also will bring the vocals a bit higher than I anticipate. I've been told that is their nature. And it's done this in two separate and completely different rooms.On...
Has hi fi become too specialized
I don't buy the statement at all that equipment is produced with a narrow focus. That would be pretty silly from a mfg'erer's perspective. Now there's always been the odd amp or two that sound well with 5 piece band and instantly become congested ...
Speaker Coupling to Carpet
Audiopoints would work quite well here. I've never tried them against concrete flooring but my understanding is that one should reap even greater sonic benefits.By the way, with the Audio Points geometry, you need not worry about them getting thro...
Audiophile with a Golf bag
He was very funny. As for his golf bag, it is alive and well. In fact, you can see the bag at toocooltoys.com. I believe it retails for $5000.-IMO
Pass Labs X-1 Preamp Questions:
Hi, Lanny. I've owned the X-1 and X2.5. But I've never had anything underneath them except for Star Sound's Audio Points coupled to a mechanical transfer to ground designed rack which also was sitting on Audio Points.I've also never used anything ...
Has anyone tried vibrapods with the Sony XA777ES
Several years ago I had vibrapods underneath my Sony SCD-1 (57 lbs.) and other components but of no positive affect.Since that time I switched from isolation/dampening/decoupling to coupling and incorporated Star Sound's Audio Points under all com...
Hardwoodfloors and Spikes
I'd recommend going straight into the floor with the spikes. Putting anything between the spikes and the floor begins to defeat the purpose of installing the spikes in the first place. And provided you do not drag your spikes across the floor the ...
Have you cryogenically treated your....?
Hifimaniac, I absolutely agree. My first real experience with cryo-treated products was Jena Labs cryo-treated Hubbell 20 amp IEC connector to replac standard Hubbell 20 amp IEC connector on my amplifier's passive/dedicated line conditioner.I had ...
Listening Fatigue
Bombaywalla, you make some interesting points.Sean, responding to you is like shooting at moving target. If you keep shucking and jiving with more postings and hence more accusations, name calling, labeling, etc., then I'm just chasing my tail aro...
