As one country boy to another, I imagine we have a lot to chew the fat about when you fly out here to take me to dinner while I prove my theory to you.I ain't yet herd a country boy welch on a bet. :)Thanks for the compliments.-IMO
Powercord to tame brightness and add musicality
Actually, I believe it's pretty much a guarantee that Nick has a problem with vibration contamination. Since everybody else does too. Vibration problems are kinda' like dirty AC and dirty underwear. Everybody's got 'em. :)A system where vibration ...
cones or amp stand-???
Now, Newbee, you're not demonstrating an open mind here. :)I'm so convinced that what Star Sound says works, that I started my own company. Here's a couple of urls for my exhibit at THE Show:http://live.audiogon.com/cgi-bin/ces.pl?&ST_0002&...
cones or amp stand-???
Newbie, the benefit of coupling the amp to the concrete floor using AudioPoints, or an amp stand with audiopoints under the stand and under the amp is to minimize the affects of vibrations and resonance on the components and ultimately on the soni...
cones or amp stand-???
Either would more than suffice. But if you use an amp stand, I'd highly recommend using AudioPoints under it.-IMO
Powercord to tame brightness and add musicality
Actually, I think Audience has some of the best cabling for the dollar and supposedly competes or beats some other higher priced cables such as the Nordost Valhallas. I used to own their au24 ics and I still use their au24 speaker cables. I've nev...
Powercord to tame brightness and add musicality
It's entirely possible the so-called 'digital brightness' you are hearing is absolutely fine except that it's being clouded and blurred by a lot of digital noise and AC noise that has been left untreated. It really doesn't make sense to attempt to ...
amp/Speaker bass output
Going to xlr connections may help the macro-dynamics and bass a bit.Perhaps the easiest route toward some sort of bass satisfaction would be to consider adding the proper subwoofer and subwoofer interconnects. But even then, you may be left wantin...
Best location for isolation cones.
TWL is correct. Not all cones/spikes/points are created equal. And as far as I know, if the cone is a metal material, then labeling it as an isolation cone should minimally be considered a misnomer but is more likely an oxymoron.Regardless, the id...
Will a voltage regulator improve sound?
If you live in a home built in the 50's or older, the problem is probably due to wiring.I used to live in San Rafael in a home built in the 50's. It had a 100 amp service panel (as most older homes do) and there were only 4 circuits for the entire...
Is it caused by the transport or the dac?
I was going to suggest the problem is probably a resonance transfer isssue but then I noticed you had Star Sound's products everywhere. Therefore, it's probably safe to rule that out.As you know there are certainly some decent or better cdps avail...
New Construction Acoustic Design & Consulting
Hi, Mike. Certainly no need to explain and FWIW, your last post seems to be a very sensible position at that.Perhaps my previous comment sounded a bit sinister and if so, I apologize. But I really did not mean for anything to be read into it other...

Stenersr, where did you fly in from? You must be the new bouncer everybody's talking about.I made no comment whatsoever about Mike's room. In fact, I like it quite a bit and would deem it as perhaps one of the better rooms I've yet seen. But that'...
New Construction Acoustic Design & Consulting
mikelavigne, No offense, but with the amount of time and money you've obviously invested in your system and room, no matter what the end results may be, you'd look rather silly if you admitted a bias toward any other path, don't you think?-IMO
WBT Nextgen update listening evaluation 2
42659, Excellent and provocative review. I can imagine the performance improvements are as you say. These are some of the little things that can make a profound difference in performance. If I had any confidence with a soldering iron, I would want ...
