Why am I experiencing listener's fatigue?
My hunch would be the following:o If the B&W 805's are monitors, you're already looking at an unbalanced or presentation weighted toward the highs. Consider either a set of full-range speakers and/or adding a subwoofer. Addressing this area co...
Dedicated CD Player Recommendation
You might consider a used Sony 777es or Sony SCD-1 cdp. Both are excellent value for the money.-IMO
What makes a $20,000 cd player cost 20,000?
To go along with Boa2's statement, I've heard from a very reliable source that there currently is none better than the APL. And apparently it's rather inexpensive in comparison.
what causes the sss in words like 'thisss'?
You are more apt to hear the negative sibilance on female vocalists than anything else simply because females (and a few males) have extreme precision when pronouncing the 'ssss' sound. And it happens to be one of the most difficult sounds to repro...
what causes the sss in words like 'thisss'?
Sorry, I forgot to mention that proper line conditioning can only rectify the negative sibilance induced from dirty AC.Obviously it cannot eliminate negative sibilance permanently recorded into the medium.-IMO
what causes the sss in words like 'thisss'?
It's called negative sibilance and it's almost solely a result of dirty AC from the street coming to your home. Dirty AC can also come from your appliances, dimmers, and your digital dac or cdp. However, proper line conditioning can fully resolve t...
DIY Room treatments..How Large?????
Chadnliz, your room is not small. In fact, your room dimensions are excellent. My previous listening room was 12.5' x 20' x 8' ceiling. With only 1 set of windows behind the speakers (on short wall), beamed ceiling, wormwood paneling on all walls,...
Does your system have jump?
Mt10425, Elizabeth is correct as I did jump on you. I am sorry for that. Thanks for your kind words and for not responding in like manner. As for defining 'jump', Philjolet seems pretty accurate and I think I stated something like that in my previou...
Does your system have jump?
Mt10425, I saw your first post as smug. If that was not your intention, I am sorry for misinterpreting. But labeling a statement you made as silly is not a personal attack. Just like if we were conversing in person and I told you you had a booger h...
What's the better, High Powered SS Amp?
I've tried a number of SS amps and have listened to a number of tube and SS systems. I've yet to find an equal to the McCormack DNA-2 Revision A amplifier. This amp requires a dedicated line for the dynamics to soar. And some to much of the 'lack o...
Does your system have jump?
Mt10425, I believe the elitist attitude started with you when you made your first unqualified and rather smug post above. That somehow no matter what kind of system (whether it be in an elevator or transistor radio) one listens to it's the music t...
Silver vs. Cooper speakers cables
Rsbeck, you are from a third person's perspective. Would you please share with us your own experiences between silver and copper and their sonic differences? This would really be helpful to get a better perspective of where you're coming from.-IMO
Does your system have jump?
Yes, my system has jump.Although proper vibration control, line conditioning, cabling, and decent or better full range speakers contribute significantly to the quality of 'jump', none of these improvements, even as a collective whole compare to th...
Silver vs. Cooper speakers cables
In my experience with silver cables, generically one could expect a little extra detail (and perhaps tizzyness) while sacrificing some warmth and fullness. Generically, one could also expect slightly less detail but more warmth and fullness and na...
Isolated or dedicated lines for audio ?
A couple of IEC connectors are double-cryo'd but that's it.I too am a real advocate for cryo-treatments and double. But Larry it sounds like you have something to share regarding double-cryo-treated parts. Please share.-IMO
