Speaker cable suggestions
I'll second (or third) ClearDay Cables. They replaced far more expensive wires in my system (I realize this means little to you, but I see this mentioned often, so there ya go). Additionally, Paul is truly one of the good guys. He's an absolute pl...
some of the best speaker cables under $250
Another vote here for ClearDay cables. Fantastic product and the owner, Paul, is one of the really good guys.
Best Option In A Tube Preamp $1,800 Or Less - Used
I agree with the Modwright recommendations. I'm still getting to know a recently acquired SWL9.0SE but am VERY impressed with this piece already. It takes a pair of 5687 (or equivalent) tubes, so tube rolling is relatively inexpensive - Bendix 690...
Simplifi Audio - DSpeaker 2.0 ultra power supply
as an alternative to the excellent instructions Rodge827 provided, you could pick up a Philmore TC218 DC Coax Plug, which is already terminated with the necessary 2.1mm plug and has a nice 18awg pigtail (most of these are much smaller). terminate ...
Raidho X-1
thanks for the insightful responses - i appreciate the commentary.@ audiooracle - yes, i agree that full range, floorstanding speakers would be preferred, however, my domestic situation is such that i need to get the speakers off the floor entirel...
Any thoughts on removing a preamp from your system
i've tried using various DAC's with variable outputs in lieu of a dedicated preamp but was never satisfied with the results and always ended back with the pre in my system. this was the case until i tried the placette RVC, which has obviated the n...
Preamp for Job 225
have you considered the placette RVC or passive (if more inputs are required)? i've been enjoying one for a while now and find it to be a stellar performer - it replaced a $5k tube preamp. also they are fantastic folks to work with... customer sup...
Great comanes to deal with?
There are a few companies i've dealt with that I consider standouts where customer service is concerned... Pass Labs, Atma-sphere, SVS, Placette, Wyred4Sound and VAC are all simply exemplary in this regard.
Preamp recommendations for under $600.00
preamps require care in system matching, so one that sounds outstanding with a specific amp and speaker may sound dreadful in your room. i've been through a few - counterpoint, aesthetix, etc - and am currently using a placette passive. given the ...

Power conditioners around $500
Bo1972 - thanks for the additional information. So then have you not personally auditioned the Running Springs power conditioners? Again, not questioning your findings, just really interested in the Fisch line if you found it superior to the RSA g...
Power conditioners around $500
Bol1972... can you elaborate on the comparison you did between the Running Springs conditioners and the Fisch Audiotechnik? I am curious what advantages you found in favor of the Fisch. I am in no way questioning your findings, but rather am genui...
Power conditioners around $500
if you can find a running springs haley in your price range, they would be worth checking out.
Mytek Vs Wyred4Sound DACs
@Sc53 - if you haven't done so already, you might want to look into the Schiit Loki, as it adds DSD conversion to existing DACs. i've never tried one, nor any of their other offerings, so can't comment directly on the quality, but they are general...
Child-Proof Speakers
Vandersteen 5's, though a little above your budget, are fantastic sounding speakers with the drivers mostly well out of reach.Have you considered keeping the Anima stand mounts and simply placing them atop a low console or credenza? I had the same...
