Looking for a DAC that has..
@ Kzhtoo... i've owned your preamp in the past as well as the Wyred DAC2. depending on the gain in your system and your listening levels, my guess is that you're going to have a very hard time replacing the pass labs preamp with any of these - esp...

Best 2 ch. Amp, for music, under $1k used
The McCormack DNA 0.5 is a great recommendation. Another amp to give strong consideration to is the McIntosh MC7100 (later version with XLR inputs). I've recently had the McCormack 0.5 Rev B, McCormack HT-1 Fully Modded (i forget the exact designa...

3 channel stereo music processor
+1 on Meridian Trifield... really increadible experience when the front three channels are well matched. you can pick up one of the older 5 series processors very reasonably now - they sound great in trifield and can be used with any speaker.
Which processor/preamp....
what other requirements do you have... connectivity? latest codecs? i'm sure you'll get many helpful replies from the good folks here, but the more information you provide, the more useful you may find the advice.if you're ok with older gear, the ...

Sub Woofer Hum... This One Puzzles Me
ARGH!! i spoke to McIntosh today and they said a grounding wire should be connected to one of the screws on the bottom of the chassis of the amp. i went ahead and did this, connecting from a screw on the bottom of the chassis to the grounding scre...
Sub Woofer Hum... This One Puzzles Me
i spoke to Richard Vandersteen yesterday - he's completely stumped. he did say that shorting the unused input is not advisable and that adding a resistor would not correct the situation. his suggestion was to run a ground wire from the ground term...
Sub Woofer Hum... This One Puzzles Me
Thanks, Al... i'll give that a try as soon as i can. i really appreciate the help!-Scott
Sub Woofer Hum... This One Puzzles Me
Al,you are correct - the 7100 has the older Mac screw type terminals, but i have a set of spade to banana adapters that i'm using on the amp. is shorting the + and - terminals on the unused sub channel simply a matter of a short run of wire termin...
