New 'Vinyl Flat' flattener? I may have finally come across an LP that can't be helped. I have a copy of Mofi's Slowhand that has bad dish warping. I've kept it because side two plays flat, especially with a clamp on the record. Side one is dished up and undulated all over th...
New 'Vinyl Flat' flattener? The Legacy 50th Anniversary Kind of Blue on blue 180gm vinyl which was dish warped with a nasty bump up on the outer edge came out of the pouch after 6 hours almost perfectly flat and sounds great. My 312s Magnesium would track this before but I d...
New 'Vinyl Flat' flattener? Swampwalker, That's what I'm saying. It does just that and it's the first time I've had any success at all doing something like this. I made a copy of Al Di Meola's Hotel Splendido that had severe ripple warps play with very little tonearm movemen...
New 'Vinyl Flat' flattener? My interest was peaked by this thread so I ordered the Vinyl Flat and pouch and have been experimenting with it. I was skeptical. I've tried several methods of flattening discs without success. Short answer? This works. I think the key is even pre...
Verus Vs Rim Drive I lived with the VPI rim drive for a couple years and found it to be a big improvement over complete belt drive. I agree with Stingreen on that point. It can sound quite good but is very tweaky and sensitive to set up. YMMV but in my opinion it on...
What reissue sounds better than the original? I don't think I've ever found a reissue that betters the original. The best they can do is come close. I do have quite good reissues of Kind of Blue, Avalon, CSN, If Only I Could Remember My Name, Folk Singer and A Love Supreme. I would somewhat d...
Pros and Cons of "Staying with" Analog and Vinyl If you don't get the analog thing or don't want to I'd say stick with digital. Analog done right is a chore and an expense. If it's not an enjoyable struggle/hobby for you it's not worth it. I've always been a worker anyway and when I put the time...
Shun Mook Record Weight I like the price of the HRS Analog Disc. It sounds like it holds it's own against the others at a much lower price. It seems to be available on line from a retailer in Canada for $208. Seems like a good alternative to a TT Weights product at a sim...
Shun Mook Record Weight Genesis, Any idea if the HRS analogue disk can be ordered on line or do you have to go to a dealer?
MC versus MM. Which to choose. I have MC and MM that I really enjoy. MM is the cheaper way to go. I'd say get a nice MM if you're on a budget. If not, get both. You'll be surprised how much you like them both. The point of diminishing returns kicks in real fast though and the h...

Jennifer Warnes 20th Ann Famous Blue Raincoat RI It's a bit early I suppose, but has anyone heard the 45rpm release of The Well yet? At $90 it's not light on the pocket book but if it were the best version of this recording it may be worth the cost.
Sara K SACD vs. XRCD I have the SACD but have not heard the XRCD. I consider the SACD to be amazing from both a content and sound quality standpoint. If they ever put this out on vinyl I'll get it. Also highly recommend Water Falls and the new In The Groove on vinyl. ...

40th Anniversary Aqualung is KILLER I have several copies on vinyl. The Chysalis copies have never been that impressive. I find the Classic Records 33 1/3 version barely OK. I haven't heard the 45 version. I have two Reprise copies that are great and I would think very hard to beat.... |
