Anthem AV receiver better than Denon as a preamp I for one am not a fan of Denon receivers at least for stereo listening. Can't imagine the preamp section alone is anything special either. I'd be very surprised if the Anthem wasn't a meaningful step up. Any way for you to demo one at home?
Need a monitor while floorstanders in storage Interesting about the Aperions. Just noticed someone selling Silverline Preludes -- the newer version -- for $500. Tough to beat that I'd think, but seller won't ship so you'd have to be able to get to New England. Best of luck in your search.
B&W 801N and Bryston match Agree the tweeters can potentially sound harsh, and not sure Bryston would help there. That's probably why you see B&W speakers frequently paired with Classe amps, and I think you might have a good idea looking at McIntosh as well. Best of luck.
Upgrade Path? Differences between sources are important but tend to be smaller in magnitude than from pre, amp, and speakers. For that reason I'd upgrade the integrated first to get the qualities you're looking for and then deal with the source. A better integr...
Need a monitor while floorstanders in storage Not sure what sound qualities you're looking for, but the Silverline Minuets are great.
B&W 801N and Bryston match What are you using now and what qualities are you looking to improve upon? Not sure choosing an amp based on price on the used market and warranty are the best criteria to go on, but we all have different priorities I guess.
Solid state amp around 2000-2500 used or new Would be good to know what qualities the OP would like to improve upon over the Khartago. Would make for better recommendations.
Need speaker advice After looking at the Silverline website, what really bothers me is they only offer a one year, non-transferable warranty. With speakers at this level I'd think it would be a lot better than that. Putting myself in your position, if you don't fix t...
Oppo customer service I had a problem with the door on my DV970HD in the first year and they fixed it and got it back to me within a week with no problem. A few years later the door is acting up again, so I'm questioning the build quality at this point more than the se...
Bryston Loudspeakers? I own a Bryston pre and am certainly rooting for them here, and I bet the speakers sound pretty darn good too. And I understand working with Axiom to get access to their drivers, but why oh why did they have to make the Model T look so much like t...
Bryston Loudspeakers? There's a reason there are so few manufacturers that can successfully build and sell both electronics and speakers. A mid to high end company like Bryston working with a lower end speaker company to enter the speaker market seems like an odd strat...
Can a $3K table be among the best out there? Understood your friend knows his stuff, but the question that seems to not have been answered is if he's actually heard a WT turntable. Has he?
Magnepan MMG or something else You need to identify what aspects are contributing to your lack of involvement, otherwise this is just a crapshoot. Is it timing? Is it a lack of tonal richness or image density? Or a lack of dynamics? Involvement may be subjective but that doesn'...
Sound dampening Bass frequencies will not be damped or absorbed by curtains if that's what you're looking for. And they won't do much to keep the sound from leaking to the rest of your house either if that's a concern (you don't specify if you're looking for soun...
Need Advice for LCRs - Budget $500-$1000 The center speaker, as usual, will likely be the most important of the three so I'd try to get the best one possible. For $375 I think the Paradigm Monitor 7 Center 1 could be a very good choice, and you can pair it with the Mini Monitors and stil... |
