Monitors that compete with quality floorstanders??
Check out "the clue" from Sjofn. At your price point you could get two new stacked pairs and still have money left over for stands. I heard these at a NY audio show and couldn't believe the quality bass this configuration was pumping out, and they...
Upscaling Speakers, Downscaling Amp...What to Do?
Curriemt11, what amp did you end up going with and how does it compare to your old VAC? I'm also contemplating the Pulsars and Perspectives and curious as to what you found the main differences to be other than the obvious difference in bass capab...
Sjofen The Clue speakers
I heard these at an audio show in NYC and thought they sounded phenominal. I think he had four speakers playing with one on top of the other on each side backed pretty much right up against the wall. Almost didn't even sit down to listen cause I t...
An audiophile in Chicago .....
Haven't been to either in about 15 years so no idea how good they are these days, but Holm Audio in Woodridge has some good brands. And if you can't travel, Audio Consultants I think is within city limits.
Hegel h300 or Krell S550i or Music Fidelity M6500i
I'm not familiar with your speakers, but Technics really isn't known for producing great speakers as far as I know and these look like the typical 70s/80s Japanese low/mid-fi fare (i.e. cheap drivers in a cheap resonant box). I'd be looking to rep...
authentic space recordings
Here's one smaller venue and one larger:Patricia Barber Companion -- recorded in the Green Mill bar complete with clinking glasses and silverware.Sera Una Noche -- recorded in a large cathedral I think, at least that's what it sounds like.
Audiophile newbie
Agree it's hard to go wrong with NAD and Blue Jeans cables. For speakers you should really go to as many dealers as you can and listen to as many speakers as you can so you can start to nail down what aspects of sound reproduction are most importa...
best mach for SB venere 1.5
Djverne makes some really good points that may ultimately drive your final decision. I think your findings with the Rogue amps was revealing in that the Cronus is a fuller sounding amp while the Sphinx is voiced a little leaner. The Veneres are no...
Looking for "realistic" speakers
I think Joseph Audio speakers do a lot of the things you're looking for very well. Very good off axis, exceptional imaging and soundstage, very detailed but in a very natural/musical way, and they disappear extremely well as a sound source. There ...
Bel Canto and Wyred monos
Wouldn't it be a lot easier and cheaper to just get another rack instead?
best mach for SB venere 1.5
"now i need to get amplification that will be most suitable for them"It would be helpful to know what aspects of sound reproduction are most important to you as "suitable" means very different things to different people. But, without that info, I ...
Suggestions for speakers for my setup
Agree with Phasecorrect that there's a lot more to good sound than bass and tastes/priorities change over time, although if you can afford to get the bass -- and you certainly can at this price level -- why not? Also agree that Revel makes excellen...
Suggestions for speakers for my setup
Acoustic Zen Crescendos would be worth a look, although if you tell us more specifically what you're looking for in addition to bass you might get some better recommendations. Best of luck.
Mini-monitors $5,000 - $10,000
Would be helpful to know what aspects of sound reproduction are most important to you.
Do I really need to upgrade to Rockport Atria ?
Well, since you're not listening to audio much anymore I'd highly recommend you sell me your Mira 2s at a steeply discounted price, buy semi-decent L/R/C speakers and surrounds from the likes of GoldenEar, PSB, Paradigm, etc., to complete the home...
