B&K ST-140 - early lower watt version vs. 105 watt
Get the ones with the "blue and red printed faceplate"...the rest were so weak that they could not even handle a 4 ohm load (junk)...better power supply always sounds best.Dave
The proverbial "giant killer"
One answer...have a listen. If (you) think that, "that" speaker system has the sound you are looking for....buy it.This ain't rocket science, or..."economies of scale". It's about design and implementation. Once you get it home...say "hello room"....
Price vs. value point
Take a look at "Outlaw Audio"..."AV123"..."Odyssey Audio"..."ATI". All these companies have products that fit.Dave
Mid sized room -Full range vs Monitor
You have the full plate of options with that room...a dedicated room which allows use of bass traps without putting you in the dog house is a major plus also...I suggest both front corners as a good start.Dave

1.0 or 1.5 m digital interconnect, does it matter?

SACD vs. Redbook with NOS DAC
I read the post wrong...NOS, DAH?...I was thinking NOS...as in tubes.CD's are old technology...does that make better sense? How about that even older technology, vinyl?...does that make an ounce of sense?Dave
SACD vs. Redbook with NOS DAC
I had a Sony XA-777es SACD player in my system for around a year...I agree, more analog like than most digital.I now have an old Counterpoint DAC in my system...it has all the sound qualities that I liked so much in the Sony...or as you put it, "T...

Tube amp with SS like bass
I don't know about the Rogue 90...my Rogue 120 Magnums (Kt-88's) have Krell like bass...as a matter of fact they replaced a Krell Kav-500.That said, no amp can drive speakers which require more power than that amp can provide...no exceptions.Your ...
newest vs older dac
It's hard to say, I'd say it would be more of a case by case basis, ie...if you really like the sound of a certain DAC, and what that sound brings to your system...old or new is a non issue. My old Counterpoint DAC and Kinergetics transport (circa ...
