I get 70 of the Live Symphony Experience at home
Listening rooms are small spaces, live are large spaces. The two are nothing a like. The components we audiophiles use are designed for small space use.You would "not" enjoy a live band in your living room for very long. {It would be one hell of a...
Getting HD cable signal to Infocus X-1 projector
Yes, VESA to component adaptor...thats what I got from them (I could not remember, exactly what the adaptor cable was called). I set my Comcast hi-def box to 1080i and the picture looks very good.Dave
Krell showcase or other 5 channel amp
Of the amps you listed, and...hometheater/multichannel in mind. Classe, Krell TAS, and Cinenova Grande would be my top choices to explore. The rest of your choices, are well below these in build...the Bryston being the best of these. When you buy ...
Krell showcase or other 5 channel amp
Take a look at an (Earthquake Cinenova Grande)...they get great reviews for sound quality...and they are truly a beast of an amp, for multichannel use.Dave
HDMI 1.3 Audio Signal - Good Enough, or no?
I set up an Onkyo/OPPO Digital system for someone a few months back. The Oppo/Onkyo combo did pass SACD/DVD Audio over HDMI...from one, to the other. It sounded pretty darn good.NHT Classic speaker, front and rear.Dave

most difficult speaker to please
I have not owned them, but I know people, that do own them....Apogee Scintilla.Fairly large, 20hz bass, and less-than...1 ohm load....a real amp eater. (While I do own 2 pair of Apogees...I don't plan on ever owning these).Dave
System setup
If you have the time to spend, using a local audiophile and paying him for his time, and input...is a very good idea...Elevick may have made you a good offer?I am not in the setup biz myself (just a hobby), but....I did spend a couple of days sett...
System setup
My room is almost exactly that size, I'm setup on the 25ft wall. If your going to use this as a multi system (HT/music combo}...go with speakers that are fairly easy to drive, and will play loud. One suggestion, VMPS speakers fit the bill....lots o...
Looking at tubes ...
I like tubes with my Apogees....I think it depends on your goals. I found tubes to be more musical sounding than what I had been using...Solid state, Krell, Bat, Pass......ectMy advice, forget the Maggies...buy some Apogees, and tubes.Dave
Best mastered recordings
Lots of reasons why recordings sound different...to many people with input, different rooms, different mic's, different mic placement...ect...lots and lots of reasons.Check out some of these recording sessions using Royer Labs ribbon Mic's....lots...
Heard my friend's system, thinking of leaving hifi
Do you have a dedicated room?...or, at least a room with no setup restrictions? Dave
PICK ONE... ONKYO 805 or MARANTZ 8001
I thought the Onkyo was a fairly easy setup?...I did use the on-screen setup though, and not the Onkyo front panel.....I only glanced through the manual to get it up and running, fine tuned latter.Room correction started as soon as the MIC was plu...
