Has anyone had problems getting their money refunded by The Music Room?
I agree, at this point, without further information, this unfounded slam against TMR. I've had several successful transactions with them. As for shipping components, virtually every retail establishment I've ever dealt with required signature on d...

The idea of the prismatic mode of listening so apt, I listen in all modes @hilde45 mentioned.    What has become most salient to me over decades of building systems and optimizing and improving them is a growing preference for more complex music...
And a Happy 4th to all!
Governments are the reflection of the people, certainly we are divided, and think about why we are so divided. We have a two party system, winner take all, and this the way it'll stay until we get rid of winner take all. So we have this reoccurrin...
How old is too old?
You don't forego listening to your cd's when you move to streaming, rip them to streamer internal drives or NAS. You then back up those files via something like RAID, so two drive NAS, second drive is copy of first drive. And then I have a copy of...
Tidal v. Qobuz -- a different perspective
I can't do without either one, discovered two oft listened to releases suddenly unavailable via Qobuz, thankfully still available via Tidal. Infuriating how these apps just drop releases willy nilly!

Obviously we're listening to the sound and music simultaneously, the two are inseparable. Which is most salient at any moment in time is the question. I can't recall a single listening session over many decades of listening to high end systems whe...
How old is too old?
I left the world of transports and cd's when my wonderful Mark Levinson No.37 (Phillips Pro mechanism) died. Spending big money on components with such finite lifespans not for me, purchasing used makes even less sense.

I've never listened to my reference audio systems casually, number one it's not possible as I've always been drawn in by the quality of the sound. Another concern is finite life of tubes, some of these tubes are pretty expensive and rare, why woul...

This is second thread I've seen in recent days concerning listening modes. I find it incredible that audiophiles claim they don't listen to sound and furthermore find it an inferior listening mode. Tonight was my first listening session with newly...
Radiating EMI – Continued
Number one source of EMI/RFI is router with wifi enablled. I disabled wifi on router serving audio network, this router near audio system, longest ethernet cable on my audio network 1.5m. So this router connected to whole house router with long et...
glowing red output tube, but don't think it's red-plating
Excessive plate voltage the usual cause of red plating, you had bias turned down. Sometimes tube are simply bad, nothing more or less. Unless this continues to happen this is your answer.
Options to improve digital sound
So, Roon not cpu intensive. Many monitor their cpu utilization in real time and report relatively high utilization with Roon vs other music players. Also I directly monitor cpu usage via Euphony OS, I can do this by direct connection to streamer o...
Options to improve digital sound
I'm certainly not the first to say this, and surely won't be the last, but the streamer is right up there with the dac in order of importance in streaming chain. I don't care about all the signal and network filters, audiophile switches, lps, etc....
Options to improve digital sound
@audphile1 Roon Core is where vast majority of processing goes on, the relatively complex interface of Roon is processor intensive. CPU's working at relatively high rates creates more noise and higher latency, both are enemies of resolution  Highe...
Revelation Audio Labs Cryoed Silver Umbilical vs Audio alehcemy OEM
I upgraded a Perpetual Tech setup I had some years ago with the Revelation cro'd silver, worthwhile upgrade.
