Two surprising things I found that improved my imaging and staging...
Each room and system is unique, requires unique speaker placement to some extent. I put tape on floor to mark locations for past speakers. And don't have any equipment on high racks between speakers. Not having anything other than room treatments ...
What interesting or unusual gear has passed though your system during your audio life?
Good that only batteries at fault. I just recalled I heard the same screech sound a second time, I then put my CJ MV55 into service as replacement, never did go back to NEW. I bet batteries may have been the only problem for guy I sold it to these...
How do you listen?
I guess I'm guilty of being proper audiophile. Total involvement with music is my only mode, performers in room sound quality and my music  choices just naturally invoke this frame of mind, no work required.I leave multi tasking for music listenin...
Pet Sounds: Most Overrated Album of All Time?
Its only most overrated if one accepts the premise of it being a greatest masterpiece. In my view its a pretty nice album, not up to level of Sunflower and Surfs Up. I certainly don't understand trashing the album, unless melodicism and harmony ar...
The "British Invasion". A question for you old farts out there.
Every time I hear "All Day Music" I have visual memory of a picnic we had by river, beautiful spring day. Always brings me back to that summer of 1971.War never sounds dated to me, and sound quality is great.

The return of the DIYer
I've been modifying some of my equipment from my entry into high end audio in late 80's. early 90's. From the first time I opened up a component I was curious about what all those parts did and how they made up a complete circuit. Started with sim...
Frequency response while streaming stops at 15kHz- did I miss something in the fine print?
@tonywinga You should be a little more careful before posting. Everyone in a tizzy over miscalculation, this is exactly how misinformation is spread. I applaud you for quickly acknowledging your mistake. I will agree with Nonoise that optimized st...

Roon and Monterey
Try return to prior OS, I never update to new OS until they've had chance to work out bugs. Monterey is reportedly bricking some Macs.
Budget High Current Power Cords
@williewonka  I assume you still prefer your Helix to the  Zavfino?
Budget High Current Power Cords
DIY Helix, many recipes, mine uses three or four strands of VH Audio Airlock for hot wire. I've either owned or auditioned tons of PC's in range of $1k-$5k, DIY Helix now the only pc I use in all important equipment.I'd assume gauge of cable is th...

Oh, oh, Zappa in Joe's garage practicing!
Musetec (LKS) MH-DA005 DAC
Good for you, your result is what I'd expect. 005 stands on its own as a high resolution piece capable of presenting performers in room sensation with natural timbre and balanced tonality. At least one comparison review found it at least on par wi...
The "British Invasion". A question for you old farts out there.
Well, there is a difference between early/mid 60's, say '63 vs. '67. Brit invasion era really at it's end around 67. This is the beginning of the flower power/psychedelic era. Brit invasion music is a Top 40 convention, the two or three minute son...
