Always my favorite Monkee, and really originator of country rock. I'll be listening to Magnetic South tonight.   Interesting tidbit. His mother, Bette, invented typing correction fluid, White Out.
Questions about Ethernet Cabling
@jl1ny Some will tell you those two switches not audiophile quality, therefore, your results not valid in regard to  true audiophile switch.   In my case, I was told my audiophile switch inferior, I need to move to $3k switch. So, what switch is...
You Cant Buy It but you Can Build It
@mahlman This isn't you vs I thing. Whether laptop or tower, there are better servers than general service computer. You don't have to take my word for it, again, do the research. Better yet, try a server engineered for audio only, nothing beats t...
You Cant Buy It but you Can Build It
I don't know why you infer I'm having issues, on the contrary. I know from experience that general use computer not good for server, I used laptop prior to present solution.   I'll just touch on a couple issues with laptop, all those needless pr...
You Cant Buy It but you Can Build It
Noise you can hear is not the problem, its internally generated noise raising noise floor, supressing signal/info/resolving power. Noise floors that aren't heard at idle do exist, you'll never understand until you experience.   Surprised a diy d...
Review: Holo May (L2) DAC and the Musetec Audio (LKS Audio) MH-DA005 DAC Compaired
I'd like to see 005 reviewed on ASR, suspect it will be top notch if not best ever tested. I owned Okto Dac8 stereo concurrently with 005  At the time I owned Okto, it topped measurement hierarchy at ASR, so quite confident 005 would measure at le...
Musetec (LKS) MH-DA005 DAC
Since getting 005 just over a year ago, I've made number of changes in system, not because 005 injection of some unwanted coloration, rather solely increasing resolving capabilities of entire system. And this to system that's long been pretty damn...
You Cant Buy It but you Can Build It
I'm using highly modded Macmini. Uptone MMK dc internal power supply, Uptone JS 2 lps, Stripped of virtually every service, including those only accessed via DOS command. No wifi, wifi antenna removed, upgraded RAM and SSD, shielding for RFI.   ...
Shipping Floor Standing Speakers to the US from Canada
They're acting as broker, reason for fees. I've both shipped and received from Canada with no problems. I've always done all the paper documents, Fedex, UPS, DHL all have very specific directions and supply all document forms for diy shipping. All...
You Cant Buy It but you Can Build It
@mahlman Lots of good effort there, but I don't understand the off the shelf computer. General service computer not quality server. If truly diy, why don't you build diy server, sure you could do much better than present. Really need lps with any ...
When choosing new Speakers, what matters most to you?
How amenable to modification. Its a mystery to me how few speakers optimized by factory.   Simple for me, I want real live, flesh and blood performers in my room.
750$ Intel NUC vs $6000 Aurender N200: I don't hear the difference
OP could be experiencing sin of omission deal, nuc vs. sin of commission, Aurender. Now is that sin of commission due to Aurrender or some other part of system?   One often doesn't perceive omission as a sin, and it may be preferable in some cas...
Weakest digital link: DAC - Streamer - Server?
You missed one extremely important variable, the entire network.
So where do you fall in the spectrum.? Gear or Music?
@hilde45  Thanks for bringing that book to mind. Too many perceive quality only as judgment on linear scale. However, replace the word quality with qualities, this then allows one to learn to be mindful of all the parts of the whole, this is actua...
SET the best?
845 not for you, heat, weight, and reliability factors in as well. Heat is enemy of reliability, these things run hot, hot, hot, they have no soft start circuit so wear out tubes more quickly. I wouldn't trust just anyone with nearly 1000v running...
