Is Martin Logan goin to Big Box stores?
Sorry for coming unglued Chad. I've just seen far too many "why so many's", "how come they don't answer my call in 30 seconds" etc. threads that try to influence brand opinion that I'm apparently getting too touchy about one of my favorites. My exp...
Is Martin Logan goin to Big Box stores?
There’s no reason for starting this thread other than to solicit disparaging remarks on a brand that has demonstrated excellence in design, engineering, production and customer service, year after year, even while its low end models have been sold...
Is Martin Logan goin to Big Box stores?
Imagine – a high quality, innovative, state-of-the-art, designed and built-in-America, piece of industrial art sold at Best Buy or a related store – what a shame, eh? If you really give a hoot that a sales dweeb doesn’t remember your name, you mu...
a great take on big$ cables
According to the article there’s been $15,000 challenges that haven’t been taken by these experts. The dumbing-down of audio. Read one unnamed magazine’s recent attempt (not Stereo Review)at describing why they won’t do double blind testing a few ...
XLR or Rca's for Bryston 4B ST/BP 25 Pre
Balanaced connections are preferable for long runs. At one meter save some money and go with RCA.
Better power cord for Bryston
Stay with the stock cord. Nothing to be gained from snake oil fantasy's.If you need proof, have a friend swap cords without telling you - as in blind testing - you'll never tell. The reason so many are afraid of bliond testing is that they'll reali...
Better power cord for Bryston
Tvad is correct. I have a 4Bst - Changes are in your imagination. If you want it to sound better it will. Have a friend change in/out without your knowledge - you won't know when it's in or out. Don't buy into the BS. Save $ and spend on something...
About Lugnut -- Patrick Malone
Hi Paul - CEDIA's ELF Foundation sounds like something Pat would have approved of (from their site) - The Elf Foundation is a non-profit charity organization that acts as a rallying point for consumer electronics industry dealers, media, manufactu...
About Lugnut -- Patrick Malone
Dear Barb,I've thought of Lugnut many times in the past few days, and express my sympathy fopr your loss. As you can tell, many here are feeling Pat's loss, and while my dealings with him were not nearly as numerous as others here, I was always im...
A blood oath among Audiogonistas
And as long as they don't use words like Minty, add, great base, power chord, etc. etc.
What other hobby or hobbies do you have?
I guess you could call alpine skiing a hobby, but I consider it a religion. Upcoming religious experiences- Dec - Utah (powder), Jan - Vail (back bowls), Feb - Squaw (sunshine)/Whistler(not), March - Vail/A-Basin (50th birthday present to myself),...
experience w/ Auralex room treatment
I don't agree with Seasoned regarding the colors. Both the purple and the cranberry look pretty sharp depending on your wall color of course. Also note that you have more mundane (and also much more expensive choices) if you look on their site.I t...
Do you care about the LOOK???
Martin Logan - Sound as good as they look. I have both black and cherry rails for my Ascents. When I want an awesome looking piece of mechanical sculpture, the black rails go on, when something more mellow is called for, the cherry rails work well.
Special birthday audio gift to yourself?
My 5-0 is coming in March. I already know what I'm doing and have advised significant others in case they want to be a part - 1) Levinson 333. I know other things may be different / better, but I always wanted one.2) Breitling Aerospace (it's a wa...
CD Redbook versus DVD Audio
Check out the Grateful Dead's American Baeuty on DVD-A. It's almost like hearing it for the first time.Competing format's and unnecesary complexity (for the averge consumer) is what has killed (or put it on life support) the format. A shame.
