Is anyone using FuzzMeasure?
Drubin,Thanks - it does not mention if it controls any MIDI devices. The advantage of Room EQ wizard is that it is adatped to work the the FBQ2496...Anyone here tried Room Eq wizard on a Mac? I have all the gear just have not found time to play wi...
Nearfield speakers for rock/amplified music?
I am using the Genelec 7050 subwoofer with my 1029 monitors, no bass complaints. Would the less expensive NHT system be an improvement? Certainly of equal quality. The NHT's are more emotional for sure - warmer than the Genelec's.
Harbeth 7es-3 Sound
I have to say that the Harbeths handle it ALL very well. I agree. It is indeed an outstanding speaker. My point that they don't go very loud and that the warm bass (which is so nice at lower levels) can be overwhelming at higher levels is in the c...
Owners of speakers by obscure companies chime in
So how come Stereophile and Absolute Sound never review these products? I think they tend to give priority of reviews to companies that give them advertizing revenues - after all Stereophile is not a charity it is actually in business to make you...
Nearfield speakers for rock/amplified music?
NHT S-00 and NHT M-00 - you can find these new for $750 and you can adjust the presentation for your listening setup (being in a corner you may want to move the sub out a bit). The sub will allow you to dial in more bass for emotional energy. I am...
Laid Back Speakers amps, players etc
Laid back generally means a warm resonant bass (typical of small ported designs with underdamped response and big "hump" in the bass) often combined with a "scooped" midrange (scooped midrange means the power response, which is combined on axis an...
why do companies charge double for xlr cables?
XLR connectors are probably twice as expensive. The wire has an extra conductor and is shielded. It doesn't need to be fully balanced to improve contacts and reduce noise from EM/RF.
MIT multipole technology
Sorry I can't help - this is not using any accepted science I know of.
Harbeth 7es-3 Sound
Finally got to hear these speakers yesterday. What I heard was excellent driver integration - you don't have the sensation of where/when the tweeter takes over (which is such a common problem in two way speakers). A warm wooden or boxy resonant sou...
Jazz artists for late starter.
Also if there are any jazz groups where the drummer uses sticks rather than brushes, would be a big bonus. Your missing classic stuff like Harry James, Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Dirty Dozen Brass Band (funeral stuff). Your missing pushing the ...
speakers for classical music
I don't think the peaks are lasting long enough to lead to significant compression when listening to actual music in my system. What a speaker can do with a sine wave for several seconds is not of great interest to me, if it doesn't correlate wit...
Rethinking Listening Fatigue
Oh and for those who like detail. Here is some sobering reading that explains how your DAC is very likely clipping due to illegally loud redbook on most recent CD's.And CD sales are declining...and the industry wonders why?Well they get what they ...
Rethinking Listening Fatigue
To try and tie things to together. We are all talking about the same thing as being fatiguing.Higher order harmonics from intermodulation be it TIM or other forms of distortion. This happens with a bad amp design. It also happens when an amp is over...
speakers for classical music
Dave,Sure most dynamic speakers can probably achieve 105 db SPL peaks at 7 feet that with 1000 watts behind them. The issue is how clean and uncompressed are those peaks. This was my point about giving a link to what many audiophiles regard as a r...
Rethinking Listening Fatigue
For me, recordings that are highly compressed are very fatiguing, regardless of the fact that I may love the music. Unfortunately I can hardly tolerate listening to these recording on any combination of my home audio rigs. They sound fine in my c...
