Musicians?
I am rather embarrassed to say that our piano just got tuned after roughly 8 years. The good news is we have a gem. The guy who came collects pianos and owns a piano museum and was simply floored - he said our upright sounds like no other upright ...

Well I don't know about your WAF acceptance factor but a Fergie CDP is one helluva a CDP.
More convinced of analog than ever
Yawn. Sure. Hang on ...let me grab some popcorn. Repeat everyone all together now the mantra.... "Analog is good, no matter how cheap. Digital, no matter how expensive, is always bad."

BongoB,You are going for some heavy rotation there - you need a good streaming source for a warmer liquid sound - something like the Fergie CDP
The Room, not us, determines our speaker choices
Unfortunately, you have to just keep trying until it happens. You can do a lot to fix room problems with a lot greater chance of success than randomly trying speakers in the hope of finding one that is sufficiently bad or uneven in reponse so tha...

Your thoughts betray you, or is that simply a lightsaber in your pocket?
Wadia, Benchmark Questions..
Yes you can plug the Benchmark straight into the power amp - it is quite capable of operation without a preamp.
Subs: DIY Kit vs. Martin Logan

Personally, I like Benchmark DAC1 married with ATC actives. The thin sound of the DAC1 in the lower mids (compared to other digital sources) seem to mate well with ATC's. Detail is accentuated without any digital "harshness" although subjectively ...
Harbeth
Madfloyd,I think you will like B&W more than Harbeth but you could try the SuperHL5 (it might fit in a small space). I suspect the reputed B&W N802's might be the sound you are looking for.
Harbeth
I'm looking for very detailed & airy speaker that has articulate bass and warm midrange. You are asking for an oxymoron. In essence an articulate tight bass will tend to strip the midrange of some warmth or softness. A warm sloppy bass will mas...
Floorstanders designed to be against the wall?
"large loudspeakers should not be placed free-standing but flush-mounted to perform in the best possible way."
How to choose a DAC?
The main thing of course is how the units sound. I wouldn't focus on jitter because by definition a DAC with a lot of jitter is going to sound crappy. Agreed. A jittery DAC will sound crap. However, you need to be aware that some DAC's require a ...
The best "imaging" speakers?
Since sound from the speaker radiates around the edges of the speaker then you inevitably get edge diffraction which interferes with imaging. There are two ways to deal with this:1) Small narrow baffle so that the edge diffraction occurs very earl...
