Naim -- Fatiguing?
Naim has some type of "headquarters" or possibly even a storefront here in Chicago. Has anyone ever been there before ?My only exposure to their stuff was at the Stereophile show here a few years ago. Naim had two good sized rooms with all of thei...
Need Schematics for Accuphase T107 & T109v
Not good. I was just thinking about buying an old Accuphase tuner that needs some TLC. If they aren't supporting newer gear, they surely won't be supporting "fossils" like the one that i was looking at. Bad news for all involved. Sean>
HELP Speakers sound brighter and 3D stage is lost
You obviously need to play around with speaker placement quite a bit. You'll also have to start reading / learning about room acoustics. Your going to have pretty massive side wall reflection problem with the speakers set up like that. Keep in min...
Circuit for DC motor controller
Can't make any promises, but i'll see if any of the distributors / parts suppliers that i work with have or can get them. Sean>
Now I know what they mean by a bright cable.
Viggen, why do you think that "it can't be the cable" ? He mentions no other simultaneous changes being made. Darryl stated that this problem only occurs when this cable is in the system. As such, it might not be the cable itself, but is the react...
tt advice. best arm/table combo around 4k used
If you are on a suspended floor, have speakers that do LOW bass, like listening at high levels, won't have the TT mounted on a concrete slab anchored 60 ft into the ground, etc... there is NOTHING that will touch a Sota Star Sapphire for the money...
anyone else daisy chain "jitterboxes"?
Zaikesman, that would be WAY too simple and cost effective. Besides, what would they call it ? The Super-Duper DIP ??? : ) Sean>PS... If you start off with a very low jitter transport with upgraded clock circuitry, you're WAY ahead of the game.
Can an FM Tuner be "hot-rodded" long distance???
I agree with all of the above. As to Herman's comments, with enough signal boosting ( either through antenna gain, amplifier gain or both ), you might be surprised as to how signals that "aren't there" can be "put there" : ) The use of an amplifie...
Okay, the gloves are off. Let the fur fly
Danner, thanks for the story. I find it to be quite believable. Only two problems though:1) Crown amps are great for pro sound, but they typically just don't sound "good" : ) At least your test method ruled out a LOT of variables.2) Dahlquist spea...
Okay, the gloves are off. Let the fur fly
Twl, given some of the responses here, i'm going to start another thread. It is related to the comments here but is somewhat of a different subject. As such, i don't want to dilute this one too much or steer it completely off course. Look for one ...
purpose of dual rca inputs on mono amp?
Many mono-blocks make use of standard stereo chassis. As such, they are produced with two input jacks for stereo operation. Since most manufacturers and customers would question a product with an empty whole in the chassis, they simply fill it wit...
Now I know what they mean by a bright cable.
A brighter, more revealing cable is never a good match with a brighter, more revealing component. This is not to say that your Integra is "bright", only that one needs to pay attention when matching cables and components. One can typically tame mo...
Best $300 Speaker Used
Some general recommendations to go by since you've given us the basics.1) Look for something that is relatively efficient. This typically means ported in today's market. 60 wpc coming out of a receiver is not a lot of power when trying to reproduc...
Okay, the gloves are off. Let the fur fly
Herman, what driver is used in a Lamhorn ? Is this a Lowther based unit or something similar ? I've read about them but can't remember the specifics. I forgot to add that the single full range driver that i'm using will reproduce a 5 Hz signal up ...
Okay, the gloves are off. Let the fur fly
Please keep in mind that i am a fan of "single driver" or "point source" designs and own two such speaker pairs. However, being the realist that i am, i can not overlook the flaws that go along with ANY design. Nor should i think that there are on...
