Should people with no turntable or reel to reel be considered audiophiles? @millercarbon Now that’s quite funny. Good one. Someone finally made me laugh.
Should people with no turntable or reel to reel be considered audiophiles? This is an email I just replied to a friend of mine about this: Just for reference I’m vinyl only now. @andera Yes. I know it got really strange. That’s why I recommended to only read the first page. This is the analog forum and you can see a bia...
Should people with no turntable or reel to reel be considered audiophiles? @mammothguy54 This question is similar to the ski and snowboard debate. I know it’s different in California but up here in Canada(whistler mountain) snowboarding numbers are dwindling. I have done both equally but have to say skiing is the su...
Should people with no turntable or reel to reel be considered audiophiles? It might be said there are different levels of the audiophile hobby.Level 1: digital Level 2: vinylLevel 3 : tape (15 ips)Im a level 2 that can’t afford level 3.
is the sound of vinyl due to the physical process of the turntable? I recommend if your happy with digital don’t listen to vinyl or tape. Hearing vinyl on occasion probably won’t sway you. But if you spend much time with it your brain gets used to the natural sound and you will then be less likely to be satisfied...
How Do You Live The Audiophile Life I find that making as many audiophile friends as possible and listen to their systems. And sharing your experiences with them too. Sometimes letting each other borrow gear to try. I used to belong to a club that met every weekend. Heard a lot of ...
Hear my Cartridges....🎶 To me it sounds like the Glanz is the more smooth and natural sounding. And the Victor sounding a little more lite up but possibly edgier and less refined. But more lively too. The shure is in between the two. I’m guess the Glanz would be the one ...
Lower end Soundsmith cartridges vs others in same price range? @chakster If you enjoyed reading Art Dudley you would probably enjoy Jeff too.
Lower end Soundsmith cartridges vs others in same price range? @chakster This is Jeff Day. Many of us have followed his reviews over the years. He’s written for various magazines.https://jeffsplace.positive-feedback.com
Cartridge azimuth adjustment using a voltmeter and a test lp @melm yes. I would agree that setting by ear is probably best. Not everyone is capable of this though and that is why the tools are necessary. After many years of being into vinyl I’m starting to learn to set by ear. I still have a hard time wi...
Cartridge azimuth adjustment using a voltmeter and a test lp @melm When you mention horizontal alignment are you referring to zenith?Zenith and azimuth can both influence the readings on the fozgometer. Other than setting these two with tools and eye sight, can you tell with fozgometer or other voltage ...
Why no interest in reel to reel if you're looking for the ultimate sound? I never thought about the AC being cleaner. No wonder my system has sounded so good the last couple of months.
Fidelity Research FR-7 Repair Another obvious reason to choose Soundsmith and Van Den Hul over others is that they are both designers and manufacturers of world class cartridges. I probably missed someone here though. The others are just repair shops.
Fidelity Research FR-7 Repair Soundsmith would be my only choice in North America. Excellent work. I have much experience with Soundsmith. Van den hul for Europe. But more expensive. Could possibly be the best in the world though from what I’ve heard.
New Zirconia Pipe Cantilever .. What's up with that ? I agree with you @chakster about expensive cartridges and notice some people having too strong of opinions criticizing others preferences in what they enjoy. I am experiencing difficulties too with my business. But I try to be greatful for what I ... |
