Need some turntable guidance
Correction to last post. I meant DD is a less costly approach.
Need some turntable guidance
@chakster Have you ever owner a Garrard?  Yes. I agree DD would be a more costly approach. But to state not any better is wrong. DD and idler have a different sound. To state no better isn’t correct. They are different. I have a 301, along with tw...
You know you are an Audiophile when:
When your not at home and you can’t stop thinking about your listening session from the night before.
Will a $700 turntable outperform a CD player?
@dutchydog Yes Miller carbon might bore you but just scan past. It’s more bothersome to listen to people be rude about someone else’s post. There’s better ways to make a comment.  I miss the old days when people were more respectful to each other.
TT or Cartridge...what to buy?
Also the recommended Pickering cartridge,  I would second that. I have an 881s and it’s a great choice for the money. These can be found for $300-$400 NOS. Buying vintage takes patience though.

How about Garrard 301 or 401? More bang for your  buck with vintage. Chakster’s recommendation is a good one, but I understand not wanting a table that looks like it belongs to a DJ. It’s a complete package and good value for the money though if b...
Who needs a MM cartridge type when we have MC?
@rauliruegas Regarding your comments about capacitance and inductance. Most of us don’t  try to look too much at specs deciding much about sound quality of our systems. Yes. Tonearm matching with compliance of cartridges,  and efficiency and imped...
Leonard Cohen’s “Songs from the Road” sound issues
@tonykay No one said it was new. It’s a collection of recordings from a world tour.
Leonard Cohen’s “Songs from the Road” sound issues
I should add that my Audio Technica AT -ML180 is the only one that is very good on his voice. And the only one I would probably use now for this album. The rest of my cartridges are from poor to less than perfect on his vocals but are awesome on o...

Hello @rauliruegas Ive read much of this thread over the years and finally over the last few months decided to try out vintage mm cartridges. Very impressed and like what I hear and appreciate everyone’s input on these. Your mention of the 100k lo...
Redpoint TT
I used to own a model d. As the other person mentioned  of silicone oil. I seem to remember that. And it was inexpensive. You could call  Wes Bender. He knows these well. Or Thom at Galibier audio. I think he started out with Peter building tables...
to my ears digital audio does not sound natural? something is wrong!
440 tuning is just right for me. Even being a little flat is fine too. Just as long as all is in tune to each other. Maybe your brain just doesn’t like music.
to my ears digital audio does not sound natural? something is wrong!
I find we all hear different and to me digital audio isn’t for me. But I understand that for many it is and that shouldn’t be argued. I’d prefer it was. It would make things easier. I use these examples: Florescent  lightening doesn’t bother me bu...
Will a $700 turntable outperform a CD player?
@roberjerman     Good to hear there’s other audiophile/guitar collectors. Pre CBS Fender and same era Gibson too?Steve.
Will a $700 turntable outperform a CD player?
@cakyol     Not true if you listen to vintage vinyl or reissues kept in analog,  or the modern audiophile recordings done on tape. This does narrow down the listening options but many of us choose these recordings almost exclusively.
