should i do tube? >IMHO and experience, it makes a rather large change, even if tonally speaking its similar, you loose the liquidity that a tube amp can bring to the system<i'm sure you're right. i would think that some of that liquidity in my system is repl...
should i do tube? thanks everyone for your thoughtful and speedy responses. i suppose i'll wait till i see something that's reasonably affordable and make a decision, but i suspect that after reading your opinions that the fact that i have an integrated which has s...
tube pre amp to match Sim audio w-3 or w-5 fwiw, im using a bottlehead foreplay with my sim audio i-5 integrated. it has really smoothed out, in the best possible way, what the sim delivers. i believe the sim's strength is it's amp, not it's preamp, and the foreplay, as others here have sa...
My VPI Scout has arrived looks great...your records looks a little dusty. make sure (if you don't already) that you put a good cleaning regimen into place, and clean that stylus between each play.have fun...i love my scout.
good, small speakers just picked up a pair of totem model 1 signatures mini's and they're terrific. they're small but deliver on the sound bigtime. very transparent, and very detailed. plus, they are actually better being closer to the back wall for bass response. and...
power cord replacement...source or amp first? cool..thanks for replying folks...
Bryston B60 vrs Sim Audio I-3 haven't heard the bryston either, but im using an i-5 with totem model 1 sigs and i love it. and i've been experimenting with replacing the i-5's pre with a bottlehead foreplay tube preamp for cd's, which warms up everything just a notch and makes...
totem model 1 signature the paradigm's were my first step into more expensive speakerdom...i never found them bad, but then again, had nothing to really compare them with. one thing that i could never get them to do, and am hoping the totem's will deliver, is transparenc...
totem model 1 signature thanks folks...sounds like i better try and grab the model 1's...however, would appreciate any further comments particulary from owners of the model 1(and if you're using the i-5 even better).
help me pick a phono preamp. what a lame answer...maybe you should call them?
help me pick a phono preamp. i may be wrong, but i would think that 56db is just not enough for a .5mv cart. the p-75 has up to 63db, although im good with 60db in my rig using a .3mv cart.
help me pick a phono preamp. the dynavector can easily be ordered though music direct...here's the link(disclaimer: i'm not associated with them in any way other than being a satisfied customer who ordered mine through them...)dynavector p-75
please chime in... mmrog,i think that's the key to my system. my digital front end (arcam cd62t) isn't bad, and didn't sound particulary bad when using straight throught the i-5. but i do hear more detail, and while cd's weren't particulary harsh, they are certainly...
help me pick a phono preamp. others will answer your question about input load, but i would highly recommend the dynavector p-75. i use mine with a scout, first with a benz glider l2, now with benz ref 2 silver. with a low output cart, it has a special "enhanced" setting that...
Personal turntable/cartridge evolution started listening/collecting vinyl seriously in the late 70's, but i'll be damned if i can remember what the heck i played them on(although i remember not having any interest in audiophile..probably a cheapo rack system). and in the mid 80's for v... |
