A/V receiver for decoding and center/rear Thanx for your response guys, now all I have to do is save for a couple of months to buy the appropriate receiver. And thanx for the offer Imin2u, but at the moment I'm quite literally broke, so I have to let your offer go. Thanx anyway!!
Jet...the new Ac/dc? It seems this retro-stuff is coming on strong, just like The Darkness (A thing called love). I like it, actually..... not new, but fun, energy, and good musicians, like megasam said: better then most MTV-crap. Especially The Darkness is pretty goo...
B&W 801 speaker stands, do they help? A friend of mine used some bricks to lift the 801's (II) a couple of inches, and he swears it's the improvement of the century. I don't know, his gear just sounds better then mine anyway. Only drawback is that it looks ugly, but since bricks are f...
What's the oldest piece of gear in your system? 1972 Thorens TD 125 turntable, but I have to confess I had it fully serviced and rewired a couple of years ago. And the cartridge is pretty new.
Class "D" switching amp ? I do not think a class D amp is digital, but it works with a switched power supply, very efficient, running cool and therefor ideally suited to built in a small place like a subwoofer.
Low-Fi Experience I once helped a friend picking a system, and he bought a Denon separates mini-set (sorry, forgot the model) and some cheapo B&W speakers, with some half-decent cables thrown in for free. I set it up for him, slipped one of my cd's in and expec...
How much does your system retail for? Slappy, how did you get past the ballotation? :)
Rate these on order of importance: And tried to play every note, and found out I'm was not born to be a guitar-hero.... Yeah, I suppose you're right. I just spend more money on music then on equipment, so to me focussing on the gear is not that interesting anymore. Hey, would that ...
Rate these on order of importance: Well Nrchy, the first time I heard Jimi hendrix (my favorite) it was on some cheap midi-set, with a worn-out needle, and the record was even worse..... Still, now owning a bit different system, I never re-captured the magic of that moment. So if I...

Rate these on order of importance: Whatever happened to the music? Or is equipment and acoustics more important?
Tuner connection and sound variance. HELP It could make sense if your pre-amp is less then perfect. Maybe the inputs are influencing each other? I don't know if you've got some spare inputs, but it could be worth using inputs that are as far away as possible. Or try to borrow another (pre...
Where does your user name come from? 'Satch'is the nickname of a guitarplayer I admired when I was younger, Joe Satriani. Well.... I still like him, but I've come above the age to worship people. I still like the name though...Michiel.
I need to get rid of my JBL 4311s don't I? The JBL's are genuine studio-monitors, and designed to reveal every detail a recording has in it. There was not much focus on soundstage and depth etc. If you change your JBL's for the Quad's..... well, it's hard to come up with more different-sou...
It's No Fun Being a Guru Anymore I fully agree with Slappy (Yuk! I normally disagree with everyone on everything. Maybe I'm getting old......). If people buy something that you think is crap, but they are happy with it, is it your job to make them unhappy and tell them they've th... |
