Shielding components from EMI/RFI... Help please I am guessing that consumer equipment is unlikely to have sheilded jacks if most ethernet cables are unsheilded? Oh well. They only set me back $25 with shipping.
Shielding components from EMI/RFI... Help please Almarg, that makes sense. Thanks for the info.Bc, I found some sheilded cat6 cable online. It was cheap enough I decided to give it a shot anyway. I have to run my ethernet fairly close to some power cords because my house is not prewired with it....
Shielding components from EMI/RFI... Help please That is an interesting observation about digital interconnects. I have a Linn DS which uses an ethernet connection from a NAS in a different room. I wonder if your theory would apply in my situation? I'm not sure if ethernet cables benefit from mo...
Shielding components from EMI/RFI... Help please Nice room. Warm and inviting.I once wrapped the umbilical cords of my preamp with aluminum foil then teflon tape over that. It was cheap and did lower the noise floor. When I moved I decided to remove the foil and listen again. The sound improved ...
Shielding components from EMI/RFI... Help please Just build a faraday cage around your whole room;). Run all your cables through copper pipe. Your cell phone won't work anymore but who needs distractions?
How good does a TT have to be for a good cartridge You can't go wrong upgrading the phono stage. The Gram isn't bad but can definately be improved upon. I suggest buying the best you can so you don't have to upgrade again later.
Avalon Acoustics vs Wilson Audio I also prefer Avalons over Wilsons in general. Though with the right equipment matching either can sound good. The Avalons seem to be more involving.
i am looking to replace my Krell with tube amps, There are a pair of VTL sigfrieds for sale in Seattle on this site. Those would have plenty of power and sound fantastic. I have heard them powering a pair of Wilson Alexandia at a dealer some time ago and was very impressed. I'm not a fan of Wils...
Lyra Delos vs. Kleos? Syntax, thanks for your thoughts on the Delos and Kleos. Life is full of compromise. Only you can decide which compromise is right for you.
Cartridge Experts That makes sense. In the case of the Colibri the coils are visible. I don't believe it is possible to changes the distance of the coils away or toward the pivot point. I could be wrong though.
Cartridge Experts I have a theory. It seems to me that a shorter cantilever will cause the coils or magnets to move a larger distance than a longer cantilever. The effect of this would be a difference in output voltage. When I got my Colibri back from vdh with a lo...
How do I install my cartridge? Where do you live? Maybe someone can recommend a dealer.
How good does a TT have to be for a good cartridge It makes more sense to put 5k into a better tt and arm and use your existing cart. Then when the upgrade bug strikes again you can justify a better cart. Though it depends on if your phono stage is up to the task. You may want to upgrade your phon...
VPI JMW 12.5 counterweight upgrade I looked it up on ebay. It certainly looks like it would be more stable. Although they are not very apealling visually. I did not see the one for a VPI arm but got the idea of what they look like.
Cartridge Experts Sorry, must be male pms. |
