Turntable speed accuracy Unfortunately bringing the motor closer to the platter also brings it closer to the cartridge as well. Which on the TT's I have had with that arrangement caused hum on most of my cartrides. There may be some TT's that sheild the motor well enough ...
Am I going to regret the Gallo 3.1s? So you just want more dynamics. I have only heard the Gallo 3.1 once at a dealer and did not find them overly dynamic. Could be they were not paired with the right gear to get the best out of them though.I would go listen to whatever speakers that...
Am I going to regret the Gallo 3.1s? If you just want some more bass you may want to consider just adding a powered subwoofer. Unless you are unhappy with the overall sound of your current speakers. This way you do not have to worry about changing your amp to accommadate the new spea...
Which tonearm cable? The Rega arm will not accept a 5 pin din cable. They need to be completely rewired with a kit like the cardas incognito. There maybe other wiring options but the Rega is not plug and play.If you're not good at soldering then you need to send it to...
Martin Logan Summit X with Cary Audio 805ae I looked up the specs on Martin Logans web site. The recommended amp power is 20 to 600 wpc. If you can find someone that is satisfied with 50 wpc tube power and their room is the same size or larger than yours you may be safe. I would personally ...
Martin Logan Summit X with Cary Audio 805ae What is the efficiency of the Summits? I don't own Summits but own Innersound Kayas and know low powered tube amps don't work exept at low volumes. Innersounds electical behavior may be completely different though. You might want to post this quest...
B&W 805D2 or Magico Q1? Missioncoonery, Since you got to listen to both in the same dealer on the same day your observations may be more relevent. Was the comparison in the same room with the same gear?
Martin Logan Summit X with Cary Audio 805ae I would not expect that combo to work. Some high power tube amps may work depending on their design. Which do you allready own?
What makes a speaker too big for a given room? Good points Johnk. How many speaker manufacturers actually build big speakers designed to work well in small rooms?Everybody seems to want the smallest form factor they can get away with. Unfortunately that leads to the problems you addressed. It w...
B&W 805D2 or Magico Q1? I think you better stick with headphones in that dump.
B&W 805D2 or Magico Q1? If your loaded and want a second system but only have a small room for it maybe Q1 would scratch that itch.I like the looks of the Mini much more. Though I would take sound over looks any day. I would think you could get both at that price. If your...
Analog is the new pink Ditto on Half-Price Books. Their prices are ridiculous now. They don't clean the vinyl or put new outer sleeves on. They just slap a price on the jacket. The condition of their records are usually poor as well.
B&W 805D2 or Magico Q1? I think you would have to really like the sound of the Q1 monitors to spend $25,000 on them.I listened to the Q1 at RMAF and though they did not sound bad I was not wowed by the sound. For 25k I would personally buy a full range speaker or monitor...
What makes a speaker too big for a given room? Full range speakers with no adjustment for bass loudness in a small room will not work no matter if the bass drivers are 3-7" or 1-15". The reason subs with monitors are suggested for small rooms is you can independly adjust bass output for the ro...
About to buy Aerial 9s, BUT want to ask first... Looking at your room dimensions again you may be able to get the 9's to work but it's kind of iffy. I was using a Parasound Halo A21 amp with them with good results. You can pick one up for around $1200 used.Sean |
