Moving up the Harbeth line
I just noticed the OP has settled with the M30.1. Great move! Placement in the room would be less trickier than the SHL5+.
Moving up the Harbeth line
A lot of good responses here which clearly show the members who posted have experience with Harbeth speakers. I’ll keep it short and cut to the chase. I’m referring to the previous generation Harbeth line since I don’t have experience with the cur...
Integrated amp -- Pass Labs vs Luxman vs McIntosh
Having said that, I still very much remain interested in trying out the Pass Labs INT-60 some day. From what I’ve read, it retains most of the positive characteristics of Luxman, but adds more tubiness (warmth?) and muscularity to the sound. So...
Luxman tonality
Compared to 509, the 590AXII tilts towards warm, but only by a smidgen. After living with it for a few months now, I would say the 590AXII is fairly neutral with just a hint of warmth. And as Eric said, the extension on both ends is really amazing...
Luxman L-590AXII vs Pass Labs INT-60
Ryder, it’s a little off topic, but did you ever have a chance to compare the Luxmann 507 integrated to the 509?.Skyscraper(Mike), sorry I didn't compare the 507 or 509 to the 590AXII. I only compared the Naim 282/250DR to the Luxman as I own both...
Disappointment with Pass Labs - I'm looking for something else
Likely speaker-amp mismatch. If you intend to upgrade the Klipsch Cornwall to another speaker, then focus on the speaker first and not the amp. If you want to retain the Pass Labs, then find a speaker which you like that sounds great with the Pass.
Super integrated vs equivalent +$$ for new main system
Naim Supernait 3 is inadequate for the M30.2. It may sound good but not great. My experience with Harbeth speakers is they need current / power to sound great. Those who opined that Harbeth sounds great with flea-powered amps may be predominantly ...
590axii in the house
I only have an old pair of Paradigms that I had to connect to get some listening in. You clearly need some better speakers than that !
Older B&w 805 (N or S) vs new 705 S3
If you have to do B&W, skip the N805 and go for the 805S. I have no experience on the 705 S3 though but will take the older model as it's a higher range 800 series model back in the day.
Is Luxman a poor man's D'Agostino ?
4425849 posts02-14-2021 2:34amI’ve had extensive use of the dag progression integrated and luxman 509x in my system. I find the luxman to be an outstanding product all around. It’s a neutral sound without much editorializing. It’s definitely a hi...
Anything SS sounds better than D'Agostino ?
erik_squires10,535 posts02-09-2021 10:02pmBetter, not sure. I will say hearing Luxman and D’Agostino side by side I was really happy to afford the Luxman. :) May I ask which Luxman and D’Agostino model which you heard side-by-side? Personally I o...
This new McIntosh integrated looks like a winner
Looking at the amp reminds me of the movie "Back to the Future" with those coils. It may look good but I don't usually make a hifi purchase based on looks. You listen to your hifi with your ears hence sound quality takes precedence over aesthetics.
Kimber KS-1130 or KS-1126
Khrys, May I ask what are the differences between KS-1130 and KS-1136? Which is supposed to be a superior sounding cable between DAC and amp? I have owned all of these cables and still use the KS-1130 and KS-1136. That said, I have always though...
Luxman m-900u owners - quick question
Thanks for the information yyzsantabarbara. I currently have the L-590AXII and the sound quality of the system is stunning. As the speakers don’t need the added power, I’m not sure if the C-900U/M-900U will make much of a difference. Will revisit ...
Luxman m-900u owners - quick question
Has anyone compared the Luxman top-of-the-range C-900U/M-900U to the L-590AXII or L-509X integrated?  Is there a noticeable step up in sound quality going from the separates to the integrated?
