Threshold T2 vs. Bryston SP26 vs. Plinius M8
Thanks for all responses. I will keep the Bryston BP-26 high in my shortlist although I'm using a Plinius amp. The Plinius M8 may be synergistic with my amp but I am not disregarding other high-quality units.I also noted that the Threshold T2 is a...
Problem with Arcam or JM LABS
Is there anything I can do to brighten the sound or is it just the British sound that I will have to learn to deal withI don't know if your Arcam has the equalizer settings where you can adjust the treble, midrange and bass to suit your liking. My...
how to put center channel voices in rear speakers
Have you tried fiddling with the preset soundfields such as "Stadium" or "Hall" for that matter? This will screw things up but that's your intention anyway to have dialogue coming out from your rears.
Speaker Positioning Advice needed
Cardas speaker placement method provides a good basic idea on setting-up the speakers but does not necessarily yield optimum results in most cases. It all comes down to experimenting yourself in your own room with your own ears/listening preferenc...
Marantz CD-17...want to run XLR
Oak3x, you can't run balanced with the Marantz CD-17. You would need a source with true balanced output in order to fully utilize the potential of your fully-balanced KAV-400XI amp. Benefits would be lower noise floor. It is not worthwhile to purc...
XLO responsiveness
I have been following this thread for quite some time now and didn't bother to post one here. This just shows how important customer service is to secure more sales. No matter how good the product is, there are always competitors around. XLO shoul...
Krell 400xi or Musical Fidelity A5 for ML Summit?
Nrchy, maybe the Krell integrated that you've listened to was the KAV-300i and I can agree it's harsh. The 400XI is a different machine altogether and does not possess that similiar character. jlevine, I would suggest that you reconsider your opti...
Upgrade entire system, speakers first
Yes Dev I agree. My comment only applies for dedicated audio rooms. Living space ought to be as pleasant looking as possible. I am assuming that Artch's room is dedicated since it's to the smallish side.
$1500 bookshelf speakers with laid-back highs?
Add Sonus Faber lower range to your list. The highs are rolled-off.
Upgrade entire system, speakers first
Whatever speakers you ended up with, do not disregard room treatments as with that kind of room size I bet you would need them. To have the widest soundstage and having the speakers set up close to the side/rear walls, acoustical treatments are of...
BAT vk-52SE vs ARC Ref 3 vs CJ CT 5
Sorry to hijack this thread, but will the Placette RVC work well with a Plinius SA-100Mk3 amp and Krell KPS-30i CD player?WOuld appreciate if someone could respond. Thanks.
Audiogon speaker wire gurus, please help me
I agree with Dodgealum except that the money goes to better equipment rather than to charity unless you are in a real charitable mood. The rest have summed up pretty nicely.
Transparency and the two types of speakers
Drubin,There's a reason why we keep changing equipment. Sometimes it's not that this is 'better' than that but rather this is 'different' from that. Since even a small cable can alter the sound to considerable effect, one can only imagine the endl...
PMC IB1 and room size
Jethro, Thanks for your response. Now I know your IB1's are set up on the long wall. I knew these speakers need to be further apart from each other to create a bigger soundstage and as such, setting them along the short wall in a room of roughly 2...
PMC speakers vs B&W... has anyone compared?
PMC speakers are neutral and do not have a house sound of their own, have extended bass response and can go very loud. My only complain of them is they look a tad ugly. B&W's have a unique house sound that is easily recognizable. You would eit...
