Sonic Frontiers- Quality and Reliability?
There are just praises for SF line 2 and 3's so I'll just chime in as a line 1 user. Sonically very good given its price point used, and haven't encountered any reliability problems so far despite some claims by others.
Advice on Home Theatre components...
One of the trademark typical lines often found in most Exertfluffer's postings is "I've done more than 1,000 systems and I know well....". We hear you alright and you don't need to repeat that so many times. :)
Problem on Sonic Frontiers Line 3
Is your room a huge concert hall until you have to crank up the volume till 81db? That is very loud! Frankly I haven't turned up my Line 1 past 70dB. You must have played the music too loud that caused this to happen, I may be wrong. Sorry I can't...
B&W 805 versus Dynaudio 52SE
I haven't heard of the Dynaudio but the B&W S805 is very good speakers. They might be slightly an overkill for the rest of your components I would presume but as Drrdiamond has pointed out, you can upgrade your other stuff later on. The S805 i...
PMC speakers?
Hi Jrwr7,I have listened to the DB1 with Bryston B60 and TB2 with Bryston BP25/4B-SST at the local dealer. They sound great! I find PMC speakers very revealing and yet not fatiguing to the ears. I feel they have a smidgen more detail in the top-en...
Tube preamp, Leave On Always or ON/OFF?
Raquel, that is interesting. You never replaced the tubes in your 3 preamps in 14 years despite leaving them on 24/7? I'm going your route, and don't worry if I didn't get the same results. I'll just have to get those tubes replaced if their life ...
Plinius SA250 or Gamut D200
I haven't heard of Gamut before but I own the Plinius SA-100MkIII. I believe I have found the amp that I've been looking for for the past 7 years. A very good amp indeed for its price range. I can just imagine how good the SA-250 will be.
Tube Change for Sonic Frontiers SFL-1 and Power 1
It's best to get the preamp out of the way but you're using the pre to 'tweak' the sound, just like myself. I'm having the newer model SF Line 1. Hoping to see more responses in here as well.
To buy or not to buy Audiolab 8000C
Audiolab are owned by Tag Mclaren. However Audiolab products are long time obsolete since Tag only come up with their own products under their brand name. It seems that Tag Mclaren have come back from the dead as I had the notion that they too hav...
To buy or not to buy Audiolab 8000C
That's the advantage of not being hasty and show your eagerness in getting the preamp off from the seller. Looks like you've got a hell of a bargain! Since you already have the Audiolab 8000c, hope you will grow to like that piece of equipment, an...
Jazz for relaxation
Since you mentioned you don't want any vocals, my recommendations are as follows :-1) Fourplay - almost all of them are good2) Acoustic Alchemy - The Best Of, Radio Contact3) Earl Klugh - Collection album(somebody mentioned earlier)4) David Benoit...
KRELL KCT pre is it matching with my Plinius sa102
My components are fairly similiar to yours albeit a step down from the range. I have the Plinius SA-100MkIII driving the Sonus Faber Grand Pianos, and I'm using the SOnic Frontiers Line 1 as a pre.I haven't heard of the Krell KCT pre but I've got ...
To buy or not to buy Audiolab 8000C
I would agree with Seandtaylor99. The price for the unit shouldn't go above $200 and whatmore with lose RCA's! $180 should be just right. The RCA's are not an issue since you can get them changed to quality WBT plugs which will give you quite a su...
Sonus Faber Grand Pianos vs. Thiel 1.6's
I concur with Lrsky's statement. I have heard both the Sonus Faber GP's and Thiel 1.6 in my system. The 1.6 is too bright and forward sounding for my taste while the GP's are so much musical, smoother and refined in comparison. I would go with the...
Plinius M8 or CD-LAD
I didn't expect to get a reply to my thread but thanks to you as it does helped since I was also considering between the CD-LAD and the Classe CP-47.5!Although I had been contemplating to get the matching Plinius pre, I had always been considering...
