I need help on directionality of speaker cables
Oh dear. Looks like most reference material(mostly from cable manufacturers) have misinterpret skin effect in digital cables. But I believe the one stated in Wikipedia is still genuine. I've just asked one of my colleagues in the same firm who is ...

Carl109,If you would do a search there are abundance of details of skin effect that do occur in digital interconnects, be it SP/DIF or AES/EBU. This is just one out of the many references that describes this. http://www.psaudio.com/products/xstrea...

Thanks for all helpful responses. Now I know it's not all roses with HDMI to DVI with some members here experiencing glitches.

In the transmission of the signal in digital cables, electron travels down the cable at the frequencies used by audio/video signals. The higher the frequency of the signal, the more this signal is pushed to the surface of the cable, and the skin o...
HDMI to DVI Cable
Thanks for all responses. Snofun3, is the quality of HDMI's audio signal higher than the standard coaxial digital output? I am well aware that technology of high-resolution displays is moving in such a rapid pace. My display projector bought new 3...
HDMI to DVI Cable
Thanks for your response. I reckon I won't be using any switches and hence may not encounter what you've experienced. It looks like DVI is getting less favoured nowadays with HDMI sources and displays getting more popular.

Thanks for the tip. I'll check out Mercy Streets "So" as well. And just a note, my music may not be your cuppa tea and vice versa.

Bob, then can you elucidate me on how the 'stream of information' is carried to the next stage if they don't carry AC signals? Signals in the form of electrons still need to pass through the cable isn't it?

Ghosthouse,Sorry I don't know Pink Floyd's as well. Fourplay is a jazz group. Well, I use it for my 'reference' solely because i like that track very much, and I find the quality of the album is good as well. The bass of this track goes deep and m...

Bob,Since you've called upon me, I've to do a bit of homework. A quick search got me to an article by Stereophile written by Robert Harley on the effects of cable directionality in digital cables. To summarize, he not only heard a difference in so...
What songs do you never get tired of?
Wish You Were Here - FourplayThis track never failed to spin in the player whenever I listen to my music. In fact, the CD was always in the player for most of the time. My all-time favourite song and also my reference evaluation track to gauge the...

Depends whether you bought the cables new or used. I bought my Nordost SPM cables brand new, and they suggested either way is fine, but after sticking to the direction of flow for a certain period you have to continue running in that direction for...
Speaker cable with good mids and highs
After almost a decade using Nordost flatline wires, I think I'll most likely settle with a solid core cable. Not only looking for a change in sound but also looks as well! Thanks for the thought though.
