MARK LEVINSON H SERIES AMPLIFIERS PERSONAL REVIEW
Whitecam, when I was looking for an amp for my paradigm Signature S6 v2 speakers, I tried Emotiva which was way too bright. Talking to a co-worker, he recommended Mark Levinson with Martin logans. As I already had the $6000 speakers from Paradigm,...
Emotiva XSP-1 vs XSP-1 Gen 2
Oops, with my 99.99% comment, I meant 99.9%, I typed one too many nines!
Emotiva XSP-1 vs XSP-1 Gen 2
No Lev, I'm not bitter, I just want people to know that when it comes to Emotiva, the king has no clothes. They could make top notch gear, but choose not to, and make more profits with the entry level stuff they put out.As for your Thiel 3.6 speak...
Ascend Sierra Towers ribbon or dome
I've had the Sierra-2 for about 4 weeks, as the new left and right front in my theater system. They replaced a pair of Paradigm Monitor 7's and I now plan to get the center as well, they're that good. They have about the same level of bass as the P...
Emotiva XSP-1 vs XSP-1 Gen 2
99.9% of audiophiles do not need 500 or 600 watts to do the above, Lev, with a decent well put together system. Some guys achieve the 3D staging, detail, etc., with a small tube amp and efficient speakers. The audio world has been able to achieve ...
Why do some audiophiles beat up McIntosh?
A big reason why some love to hate Mcintosh is a kind of class envy. Yes, there are those who could afford it but simply prefer another favour, but those for the most part hold no grudge or agenda.I've seen this attitude among those who won't or c...
Emotiva XSP-1 vs XSP-1 Gen 2
I had the XPA-3 amp for 3 years running flagship Paradigm speakers. When the XPR amps came out everyone was adding up the cost of running 20 amp circuits in their homes. On the Emotiva forum, "unofficial" Emotiva reps were saying that you don't ne...
Emotiva XMC-1 owners....
All manufacturers do not claim they make the best gear, and that is not what I said. But if you think that they don't make a big margin off of each sale, you are mistaken. Their products are built to a price point, just like any other maker. They ...
Emotiva XMC-1 owners....
They make cheap entry level gear and claim it's as good as anything out there. I've tried several of their products and researched others. They're nothing special at the prices charged. No manufacturer is "needed". They either get people to buy th...
Emotiva XSP-1 vs XSP-1 Gen 2
I am skeptical that the ERC-3 is anything near as wild a performer as described. One, it has a noisy transport for loading, ejecting, etc. 2, it has a budget chip for DAC duties. I had the ERC-1, and it was a disappointment. Too bright sounding, w...
Emotiva XMC-1 owners....
Jon, how many Rotels and Classe's have you owned? Did you compare the sound directly or are you comparing from years old memory? The reason I ask is, most people do exactly that, using memory and not considering the effect of new purchase bias. An...
Magnepan .7 - what to power with etc.
I have heard that Rotel can be bright sounding. I know that Emotiva can be bright sounding, is that a bad combination?
Power Amp for Paradigm Reference Studio 100 v2
I found it on line as a per foot price. Music direct has it as well as AudioAdvisor.
Amp Selection Help
It's hard to say what sound you would like. B&W can be bright speakers so to couple that with a brighter amp might be a bad idea. It seems you are using the Marantz as a pre?
Any reviews/impressionsons of Ascend Sierra 2?
As far as power goes, they work fine with receiver power. From what I've read, they don't dip below 6 ohms at any point so are not a difficult load. But with the 87db sensitivity, more power is better if you want to get really loud.I've also run t...
