Parasound Halo a-21 , One overlooked great amp
Hey, I thought I'd update this thread and bump for a great amp. I ended up with a P7 preamp and Morrow Audio MA3 cabling with Eichmann silver bullet RCA's. With the Oppo 95, what a combo. It's the best system I've ever owned, and I'm done trying t...
If you have ever bought anything from HSU research
Their policy is a fair one, many companies do the same with 30 day returns. The person that doesn't avail themselves of the company policy on returns and then gets upset only looks like a crank in the end.
My Parasound A21 review and VS Emotiva XPA
I've had the same impressions of the Emotiva pieces I've owned, and sold off the lot of them over a year ago now. The cd player might have been the best of theirs I had sonically, but the clunky cd handling, and random freeze ups weren't worth the...
My Parasound A21 review and VS Emotiva XPA
I don't get why people buy $6000 speakers at all. But if they do, why use a bargain brand amp? Those Tyler Acoustics go for over 7000. Why don't you save some REAL coin and buy some Crown pro amps for 500-600 a piece. What's the point? If you want...
My Parasound A21 review and VS Emotiva XPA
Mitch, you still seem to be missing the point. Emotiva makes wild claims and their fanboys make wild claims. I am simply holding them to account. The XPR line may be the equal of the Halo series, but based on the build quality of the XPA line and ...
My Parasound A21 review and VS Emotiva XPA
Labtec, Emotiva IS snake oil.Audioholic's owner has admitted that he's friends with Dan Laufman. I mean, whatever, but the thing is, Audioholics has NEVER had a critical review of an Emotiva product, even the piece of crap UMC-1, when a large perc...
My Parasound A21 review and VS Emotiva XPA
Yioyos, you state that it is not fair to compare the Emotiva amps with brands costing several times the cost. But then your supporting argument seems to support the idea that it IS fair to compare. Perhaps I am missing something? At any rate, I agr...
Silver cables or copper?Any opinons.
Almarg, to respond to your post directed at me, yes I read your post. I also disagreed with it somewhat. That's why I posted what I did, and you may find that occasionally people post something that differs with what you may post.
Silver cables or copper?Any opinons.
Yeah, silver is more conductive, and when that seemingly small percentage gets amplified for the speakers, it's noticeable. Personally I really like solid core wire instead of stranded wire. Audioquest and Morrow Audio both do great things with so...
NAD C372 versatility?
I should add that I acquired a brand new C326BEE while I owned the C372. With the C326 I could hear a difference in the approach NAD took when they upgraded from the "2" series, and it was an improvement. Clearer more open sounding than the C372, ...
Parasound A21 vs Bryston 4bsst 2
Interesting, I've always been curious about Peachtree. Yeah, the A21 is kind of a giant killer and i've read many good things about it being pared with the P5. I've got the P7 myself, you just can't go wrong with Parasound for the money.
NAD C372 versatility?
I had a 372 as well, though I didn't get around to experimenting with the Pre/amp connection. New they went for under $1000, and I'd say it was decent mid-fi. If you want an improvement, I'd look for a used 375. If you really want to go for separa...
Best 3 channel amplifiers under $750?
Dandycat, you seem unaware of some of the facts regarding Emotiva. The XMC-1 has been out for most of the summer. You can buy one right now. Also, not sure about your odd comment concerning me not liking any positive comment on Emotiva. I responde...
My Parasound A21 review and VS Emotiva XPA
No doubt there are some Emo bashers out there. You asked if the Emo (XPA-3) amp I had was the same price as the A21? But that's my point, Emotiva claims their products are the equal of much more expensive brands, but they aren't. True, I haven't t...
UP-OCC solid core copper for speaker cable
Stranded cables have an effect on sound that I never would have believed until I swapped in the solid core Audioquest Type 4. By comparison, the sound became more focused and clear. Not that I thought I was lacking in that department, mind you. Bu...
