Best value in pre-owned preamps right now?
HK fan, You could select one of these great suggestions, spend a fair amount of your hard earned money, hook it up to your system and hate it.Without knowing what your audio preferences are and your system, making a suggestion is of little benefit.
why do people feel the need to buy expensive cable
In regards to some of the above discussion, cables can't add something to the sound or signal since they are passive. I've always thought that the best ones do no harm so you can hear everything if your system is up to snuff. Or do I have it wrong...
why do people feel the need to buy expensive cable
Going back to the original thread question, why do people feel the need to start trolling threads? I mean, what's the point?
Clear Day Interconnects
Cables are usually directional because there will be a foil or drain wire that is connected to one end only to drain off any static electricity, etc. i believe they are designed to drain away from the source but I could be wrong.
What's the solid state amp to buy $2500?
The Herron amps appear to be a fantastic product, albeit at $13,000 per pair of monoblocks new, so about 5 times the original budget! I know we'd all love to do the same with our budgets, congrats.
Sierra 2 vs Dynaudio Focus 160
The Sierra 2 is a serious accomplishment. I put them up against my flagship Paradigm Signature S6 speakers and preferred the Sierra midrange while the highs were a tie. I could not believe it, I kept throwing different music at them, but they did ...
NAD 326 BEE v 356BEE??
I had the 326 and compared it to the 372. The sound of the 326 was actually better. As far as the 356, it might be kind of a toss up. I haven't heard it though.
looking for a recording with nice wide soundstage
The cd title "Buddy & Julie Miller" by, oddly enough, Buddy and Julie Miller. The song Dirty Water has a sound stage that is simply jaw dropping. It may be hard to find, it's a 2001 release.
Best Integrated, period.
The best separates are going to be superior to the best integrated.
Parasound's new Halo integrated
I find that for some reason, the integrated amp is the runt of the audio world for some reason. Most people go the whole way for the separates, or just stick with the receiver.
Need a subwoofer reccomendation.....
A guy starts a thread asking for advice on a new sub. He mentions he's super happy with his system at present and gives a budget limit. He immediately gets told he needs to hone his listening skills and gets the hard sell treatment. Good grief, no...
"Famous Blue Raincoat"..
I never owned Famous Blue Raincoat when it first came out. I heard it as a demo when I bought my first stereo, in the spring of 86. Anyone heard of Proton?Anyway, much later on I bought the original cd copy and it became a go to cd for several rea...
HELP WITH A PREAMP DECISION
I googled the cables and it seems that the speaker cables are getting older. Just a thought, but perhaps a pair of cables for the speakers is in order. If nothing else, it would provide one with a different flavor just by swapping them in now and ...
Anthem Integrated 225 -opinions
The 225 is from Anthem's entry level line up. I had their entry level TLP-1 pre and found it veiled and underwhelming. I'm not sure if the pre amp section is the same as the TLP's was, but you can certainly do a lot better.
Better 2-channel music
On the 851C the review above says it is not laid back like the 840. Only you can decide if that will work well with your forward sounding speakers and amps. A 60 day trial is the best way.
