Which one Emotiva or Outlaw for HT
It sounds like some are saying that they are happy with the Emotiva model they bought, and that is fine, but the question is, which brand is better for HT? Has anyone heard both the UMC-200 and the Outlaw 975?
Most overrated audio manufacturers?
I'd submit that when a manufacturer rates their gear at a certain level of performance, and the gear does not deliver, then they are over rating it.
Most overrated audio manufacturers?
I suppose I hold the view that the hype and the reality should match for these higher end manufacturers. My example about Emotiva may be an extreme case. They have promised the XMC for over 4 years now. People have been on a waiting list for that ...

Whart, you're over-thinking this maybe. Anyway, in the overrated category, one that I'm surprised hasn't been mentioned yet, but then again most of you folks probably haven't heard any Emotiva gear. And that's not a bad thing! What makes them over...
The Emotiva Challenge
The Emotiva house sound is overly detailed, bright sounding. After owning 3 of their products, and being subjected to delays and excuses from them, it's not worth it. If one has warm speakers and doesn't like the sound, Emotiva may strike a balanc...
Pro-Ject turntables
Yes, from what I've read the higher end offerings are more bullet proof. But it looks like you won't have any such issues in your price range, is there anything from Thorens that interests you, they also have quite a pedigree.
Pro-Ject turntables
Well I purchased a Pro-ject Debut Carbon after scouring the net for threads like this. I bought a demo online, waited for the delivery, powered it up andÂ…it doesn't spin. The power switch doesn't seem defective as I get a hum when I lightly touch ...
Thinking about getting into vinyl again...
The Pro-ject Debut Carbon is due tomorrow, for the price it's performance is very good. There is better out there, but you gotta pay to play.
Jc1 is good match to Sasha?
Sasha Allen?
The Emotiva Challenge
Emotiva makes a budget amp and it sounds like it. I've owned 3 of their products and once I tried a decent brand I could easily tell the difference. But not everybody can, so for them Emotiva is king. For the rest of us the king has no clothes.
I gotta laugh at myself, big time
It's true, we can wander all over the place in this hobby. I started with a pair of Paradigm Sig S6 as the OP did, but instead of going through the speaker merry-go-round, I started on an electronics merry-go-round, but quickly got off! But I did ...
My current options: Anthem MCA30 or Bryston 3bSST2
What I'm suggesting is that the OP could save some coin and get a well regarded brand. I'm not suggesting that Parasound is better than Bryston, but cheaper. Again, the OP wants to save money. Read post one.
My current options: Anthem MCA30 or Bryston 3bSST2
Yes, the A23, at $950, is hardly the equal of a multi thousand dollar amp.
My current options: Anthem MCA30 or Bryston 3bSST2
Yes really. You've cherry picked the one cost-no-object(by comparison) amp by Parasound. All the other amps they make are thousands less. To my above suggestion to buy what you want and pay what you want, I'll add believe whatever you want. I'm no...
My current options: Anthem MCA30 or Bryston 3bSST2
Bryston amps cost thousands more than Parasound Halo amps, so I'd submit the characterization "pay a little bit more" is a little off. But that's fine, buy what you want and pay what you want. The fact of the matter is that most people want to pay...
