Sound meter + equalizer = problem solved?
@mapman True, you could of course perform a measurement and then use the Equalizer to reverse the speaker + room acoustics curve to first get it as flat as possible, and then fine tune to your preference from there. You could also skip the first ...
Sound meter + equalizer = problem solved?
I would change 'Sound Meter' to 'Personal Preference'. It does not matter how it measures, it matters how it sounds. A flat frequency response not necessarily is the perfect response for everyone, or for every music genre.
FUSE BOX delivers perfect protection and superior sound
Specially the 30 hour burn in time is interesting. And if the brass slug made suh a huge difference, why not change all internal wiring to brass? Heck, you need a brass power cable!
Does a brand new electrical circuit for audio gear benefit from burn in/break in time?
There's no such thing as a burn in time, in the sense that an electronic circuit behaves differently after say 100 hours of use. There can be a temperature effect though. An amplifier (and also other equipment) warms up when switched on. All comp...
Has anyone been able to define well or measure differences between vinyl and digital?
Yes, given all the added steps it will sound different. And to some it may even sound nicer. Tastes differ.
Has anyone been able to define well or measure differences between vinyl and digital?
I’ve always wondered why vinyl sounds more open, airy and transparent in the mid range. And of cd’s and most digital sounds quieter and yet lifeless than compared with vinyl. Most studios record fully digital nowadays. When streamed lossless via ...
Powered speakers show audiophiles are confused
Together with the built-in amplifiers and digital signal processors, the powerful woofers operate down to 17 Hz. This is not possible for traditional loudspeakers. @kota1 Well, I take that kind of marketing babble with a grain of salt, but they d...
Powered speakers show audiophiles are confused
@holmz  kinda doesn’t work for tape of LP then… True, but isn't the vast majority of recordings available on Tidal and/or Qobuz nowadays? In lossless format, or sometimes even as a digital source in higher quality than LP or tape can ever offer?
Powered speakers show audiophiles are confused
Past weekend I auditioned these. I was blown away by their sound. Open, rich, tremendous separation of instruments and placement, sound stage wider than the speaker distance, deep yet tight punchy bass, clear highs. Tastes can differ, but these s...
A/B Comparison On A Pair Of Moderately Priced Streamers
You're welcome moonwatcher and thanks for taking the effort to reply.
A/B Comparison On A Pair Of Moderately Priced Streamers
Maybe this is a good read: Denon USB DAC whitepaper. If one follows these guidelines, digital audio will reach the USB DAC ’bit-perfect’, as Denon calls it. It can’t get any more perfect than that can it?
A/B Comparison On A Pair Of Moderately Priced Streamers
@ghdprentice Thank you for an as reasonable written contribution. @soix  I'm happy with my Node.
A/B Comparison On A Pair Of Moderately Priced Streamers
@soix Let me first say there’s no need for us to quarrel. If someone hears an improvement after upgrading to a more expensive streamer, then that’s great. I doubt though that such improvement has anything to do with the digital data. Playing from...
A/B Comparison On A Pair Of Moderately Priced Streamers
Let me rephrase ... I know that not to be the case. A 'high end' streamer still streams the same digital data to my DAC as my tablet or PC or Bluesound Node does. If I suffered from noise, I'd invest a little in an optical cable, or a galvanic sep...
A/B Comparison On A Pair Of Moderately Priced Streamers
"... my experience is upgrading a streamer is at least as impactful as upgrading a DAC." So ... what you’re saying is that, given the same (uncompressed) source file, different streamers send different bits and bytes to the DAC? I can’t believe ...
