The Best Inexpensive Wines Available Now I recently discovered a great cheap wine: Rex Goliath (label features a picture of a 47 lb. rooster). This California Central Coast wine comes in cabernet sauv. or merlot. Both are quite good, but I think I prefer the merlot. Cost: only $5.75/bott...
Sirius Satellite Radio on DishNetwork No extra cost - at least for the time being. Programming - for classical, jazz and 50-60's rock/pop music - in superb. I've subscribed to Sirius since 3/03 and love it.
OK Come Clean, whats in your closet ? I bought a Nakamichi Dragon cassette deck three years ago this month - intended to have it brought up to original specs, but then got a great deal on a new DR-10 (for $300.00). So in the closet the Dragon sits. I should sell it - but probably won't.
Why so few record cleaners for sale? IMHO if you're into vinyl, a good RCM is a necessity. I have a Nitty Gritty 2.5 that I bought in 1986 and I use it regularly to clean "new used" LPs I pick up here and there. The NG has paid for itself many times over, and if and when it finally c...
Greatest rhythm sections Benny Goodman's 1938 rhythm crew: Gene Krupa on drums, Harry Goodman on bass, and - on piano - Count Basie or Teddy Wilson.
Legacy Audio FWIW, I've owned a pair of Legacy Classics for just over 5 years - very, very happy with them.
LP storage? What do you use? I've been using Per Madsen's modular cabinets for the past several years. Good quality; nice looking - you can get them equipped with a dolly system to make moving them a bit easier. Go to: rackittm.com
EAR 834 and Shelter 501 FWIW - I recently bought an EAR834P to use with my Lyra Mono Helikon. The Mono Helikon has an output of a mere 0.25mv. The 834P provides plenty of gain - very happy with it.Robert
beware ipod I've had an ipod since last October - - works great; no problems. FWIW, I've used Macs for 10 years - have 4 of them - and wouldn't use any thing else now. As others have said, you probably just got a lemon.

beethoven string quartets I agree with Swklein that the Vegh is the set to have - - although the sound on my vinyl copy is decidedly not dry - - Another great set from the 60's is by the Guarneri SQ.
What was your first music that you paid for? 1962 - joined the Columbia Record Club and got a mono recording of Isaac Stern doing Haydn and Mozart violin concerti. Still have that record . . . . It was the start of a very long love affair with recorded classical music - - - -and it's still g...

What tonearms $1500 work well with the Linn? I agree completely with Johnnantais assessment of the Linn/Aro combo: about 2 1/2 years ago I put an Aro on my 20-year old Linn, and I've been very, very happy with it. Single most significant upgrade I have made since I bought the Linn LP-12 in '... |
