Thick outer vinyl sleeves
Are you talking about outer sleeves that cover the album jacket? Sleevecity.com has them (although I'm not sure they're as thick as you require):http://www.sleevecityusa.com/record-sleeves-s/1828.htm
How do you organize your LPs?
I have about 7,000 LPs. About 3,000 are classical, about 3,000 are jazz; and the rest is mostly rock with some folk, "world music" etc. The classical is arranged in chronological order by composer, i.e., Bach before Haydn before Mozart before Beth...
Goodtube integrated
I've owned a Rogue Cronus Magnum since early April and enjoy it very much. It's in your price range and should provide ample power for your Ohm Walsh speakers.
Houston TX
Houston is, indeed, a wasteland as far as superior audio stores are concerned. If you do go to Austin, you might also check out Whetstone Audio.Regards from humid Houston = = rshak (Robert)
Grungy sound with clean needle
Mofimadness - - I have a similar problem with a Lyra Helikon mono cart with very low mileage. Used to sound spectacular and now it's . . ..well, grungy. What's the best way of checking the status of the suspension? Many thanks!
LP collection
You mention "early 50's" - it would be helpful to know how early (or late), and what labels you have. Are they actually all mono, or do you have some early stereo records (which would take you into the later 50's)?
Curious record side labeling
I may be the oldest f*rt to post on this thread (born in 1947), and of course I remember record changers. I did own a Dual 1015 in the late 60's, but never stacked records on it. Rightly or not, I was concerned that it might damage my records: I r...
Curious record side labeling
I try to avoid auto-sequenced sets, which are a *pain* to deal with if one has a manual TT. When buying used multi-LP sets, I always ask if the records are in auto or manual sequence. Auto sequence is usually a deal breaker for me.
Turn table
Given the number of records you have, also considering allocating some money for a good recording cleaning machine.
Your favorite place to order new vinyl.
Acoustic Sounds is my favorite. On the rare occasion that I have a problem, they make it right very quickly.
Beethoven Violin Sonatas---favorites and recs
My favorite set is by Jascha Heifetz w/Emanuel Bay and Brooks Smith (RCA LM-6707). It's a mono recording. I also like Henryk Szeryng w/ Ingrid Haebler on Phillips 6769011.
top Mahler on vinyl
I've always been partial to Solti's on Decca/London.
Clearaudio Concept - Used - Careful
I agree with Viridian regarding the Fremer DVD - - I found it very useful, and reassuring, when I was confronted with setting up a new TT several years back.
Anyone still playing on Cassette decks?
About 11 or 12 years ago I bought a Nakamichi DR-10 from J&R in New York. That model listed, as I recall, for $900. and was being closed out at $299. It's a 3-head deck with quite a few bells and whistles and makes quite good recordings. i bou...
Who uses high end TT setup for vintage records ?
Pani wrote:Cartridges that clearly favour newer vinyls:1. LyraI disagree.I've owned a Lyra Helikon Mono for many years (mated to a Graham 2.2 arm), and it plays 50's mono records like you may never have heard: lots of punch and detail with lower s...
