Need recommendations.. Solo acoustic guitar CDs If you decide to dip you toe in the classical realm, almost any of the Naxos Laureate series will serve you well, and they're pretty cheap, too.
The "best sounding' online classical+jazz sites. For Jazz I like WDCB and KKJZ.For classical, KUAT rules - outstanding programming , but WFMT is also good.I listen either thru stand-alone tabletop internet radios or thru my main system via a Grace internet tuner. If these stations sound good on ...
Do you listen to non-music media? I have some old comedy LPs I listen to from time to time. Favorites are Justin Wilson (cajun humor) and . . . . Spike Jones (anyone remember him?)I also have a decent collection of spoken word LPs on the old Caedmon label, but only listen infreque...
Best internet radio stations. ?? Mabonn - - You asked about Oldies stations. Try Topshelf Oldies when you get a chance. The DJ's are mostly "old school" and very knowledgeable. Ron Stein, who was known on Audiogon as Recordron, hosts a show on Sunday evenings - - at least, I thin...
Best internet radio stations. ?? Classical: KUAT (Univ. of AZ, Tucson) - - - great classical programming.Jazz: WDCB (Glen Elleyn, IL) - - great stuff/savvy announcers. KKJZ (Los Angeles) - - check out Johnny Magnus's *Swingtime* Sat. and Sun from 6 - 10 a.m. California time. All t...
Have you heard the Ellington Masterpieces reissue? I bought a copy a few months ago. Superb record! As Mickey would say: It's in heavy rotation.
Do you use a wool record mat? Do you upgrade? I have two P9's. The first thing I did after acquiring each of them was ditch the wool mats - - - attracted way too much static for my taste. I replaced them with mats from Herbie's. Quite happy with the improvement.
Hey Elizabeth Where you be?? I miss her presence here, too. Hope she's okay and will soon rejoin the discussion.
Buying a used cartridge...tell us your tale. I bought a gently used Ortofon Jubilee from an experienced eBay seller (psiker1) in June of this year. It was as advertised, and I'm very happy with the purchase.
Secondary listening systems I also spend more time listening to my secondary than my primary system. The secondary is made up of: Rega P9 TT with Ortofon Jubilee cart; Eastern Electric phono stage with vintage tubes; Eastern Electric CD player; and PrimaLuna DiaLogue Premium...
Why not magnetic tapes in stead of vinyl records? Ghasley makes some excellent points. In addition, I have a nice Akai 4-track tape deck and about 60 prerecorded tapes that I play infrequently. Too much of a PITA for me (and this from a guy who plays mostly vinyl).
Tube Amp with Balance Controls - Does it exist? The Rogue Cronus Magnum has a balance control. You should be able to pick up a nice used one for under $1500.00.
Want Nice table radio cd player to replace bose You may want to check out Tivoli Audio. I've owned a Model Two for almost 10 years, and it is compact with nice sound. Much better than Bose (have one of those, too) or Proton (owned one in the '80's):http://www.tivoliaudio.com/?gclid=CNDvtfCHub4C...
Rack Recommendations Tried to post this a few minutes ago, but . . ..Here's a second vote for the Salamander racks. I have a 5-shelf model for the primary system and a 4-shelf for the secondary. Both racks are on casters - - a huge convenience. |
