Don't you love it when that happens?
Best Ways to Organize a Classical Record LP Collection ?
I have a collection of about 3,000 classical LPs.  They are generally ordered chronologically by when composed.  Hence, medieval, renaissance, baroque, classical, etc. Bach before Haydn before Mozart before Beethoven, etc. Vocal and opera recordin...
Does dry-brushing really do anything...
I've used Audioquest carbon fiber brushes for many years - - before and after playing each side of an LP.  I've never had a problem, and my records - - many of which are several decades old - - sound great.
For all you Dean Martin fans
I agree with the OP 100%.  I bought this APO title many months ago, and it is fabulous. A male vocal favorite.
Best Drum Solos
Second wlutke's recommendation of Sing, Sing Sing. You'll want the 1938 version recorded at Carnegie Hall.  I think the drummer was Gene Krupa.  Excellent performance (if dated sound) all the way around.
Modern Jazz (as in recent) Music Suggestions
I second sbank's recommendation of Jerome Sabbaugh's excellent record.  Also, try some Dave Holland when you get a chance.
VPI HW17 vs Loricraft PRC4 Deluxe
lewm - - I've owned a Loricraft PRC4 for about 10 years, during which time I've cleaned many 100's of records and gone thru a lot of cleaning fluid and a couple of spools of thread.  The thing runs quietly and has never failed me.  I stopped using...
Radio stations for Jazz....
My favorite is WDCB (Chicago), which I listen to on my internet radio(s).
Omega, Harbeth, JM Reynaud, ad Skylan
I don't have the Super Alnico model - wish I did.  I own a pair of original Hemptones in Makarssar Ebony.  (After they shipped - over 10 years ago - Louis told me mine are the first production pair).  I agree with the OP on break-in time - minimum...
Small USA Record Company Since 1946
During what hours is the retail facility open? Next time I pass through Crowley I would like to pay a visit.
Help me choose a mono cartridge
Stringreen - in answer to your question why anyone would want a mono cartridge,  a true mono cartridge picks up modulations in the lateral groove but is insensitive to modulations in the vertical plane.  If you have a less than perfect record with...
Any love for the Phillips GA212 or 312?
I owned a 212 from the mid 70's until about '83, and I really enjoyed it.  It replaced my first "real" TT -a Dual 1015; and it was replaced by my first "high end" TT - a Linn LP12 with Basik arm.  I have fond memories of the Phillips - - really li...
Help me choose a mono cartridge
I finally decided on a new mono cartridge:  ordered an Ortofon Cadenza  mono from Needle Doctor.  They're giving me a $320.00 trade-in credit on an old, worn out Ortofon Jubilee, so the net price for the new cartridge is $960.00.  I'm looking forw...
Columbia House Lives Again
Yep - - still have the first (mono) LPs I bought from Columbia in 1962.
Anyone using Music Hall MMF 9.1 TT.
I owned a MMF 9 (with Goldring MC cart that came with it) for several years and used it in my secondary system - - on top of a Salamander Synergy 30 cabinet.  I enjoyed it very much and never had any problems with isolation.  Eventually I replaced...
