Philips Vinyl: Dutch vs Italian Pressing My (limited) experience with Phillips Italian pressings was not good in terms of surface noise. In the 70's I briefly subscribed to a record club known as the International Preview Society. Got a few issues, including an Italian pressed Phillips...
Tube Phono with Tube Integrated Amp? Oh - - forgot to mention my speakers: Omega Hemptone's - - I preordered the speakers months before the official release and the Omega guy (Louis, I think) told me that mine were the first production pair to be sold. I got the Makassar (sp?) Ebon...
Tube Phono with Tube Integrated Amp? Hello, graber - In the EE phono preamp I use NOS Mullard 12ax7's I bought from Upscale Audio a few years ago. In the PrimaLuna integrated, I'm running Gold Lion KT88's and NOS Mullard 12au7's. All purchased from Upscale Audio. One of the Mullar...
Audio repair in Houston Texas area? You're in Audio Wasteland, I'm afraid. The pickins here are rather slim.I don't know what equipment you need repaired, but FWIW I've used Save on Sound several times for repairs to tube equipment. The owner also repairs old tape decks, turntable...
In praise of the mighty SOTA Sapphire Thanks for the post, which I'll keep for future reference. I've got a Sapphire that I bought in 2004 which I use for mono records. (Arm is a Graham 2.2 and cartridge is an Ortofon Cadenza Mono, which replaced a Lyra Helikon Mono that crapped out ...
Thinking about buying an Lp12, Lingo table. I used an Linn LP 12 for many years, and it was finicky to keep in tune. Finally switched to a Rega 9 w/ RB1000 arm (now own 2 of them), and I wouldn't go back to the Linn. No muss, no fuss and excellent sound.
Clint Eastwood I've always admired Clint - - after reading the posts above, even more so.
Jazz LP Review: Lyn Stanley's The Moonlight Sessions Vol.1 My copy (#502/2000) arrived last week, and . . . it's a keeper! Beautiful interpretations and stunning sound delivered via flat, quiet vinyl. Couldn't ask for more.
Jazz LP Review: Lyn Stanley's The Moonlight Sessions Vol.1 Thanks, Zach. I am an admirer of Lyn Stanley's work and didn't know about this release. Just ordered a copy form Acoustic Sounds.
Tube Phono with Tube Integrated Amp? I've been quite happy with my (tube) Eastern Electric phono preamp mated to my PrimaLuna DiaLogue Premium integrated. Been using this combo for the past three-plus years and have no regrets.
Is your cartridge toast...maybe yes, maybe no?? I use cheap "click" counters to track how many sides each cartridge has played. Very handy.
The awful truth about CDs, do they have the same shelve life as LP's ? I have bought CD's since the beginning of the format and have about 3,000 of the things. A handful (4 or 5) have, indeed, deteriorated to the point they are unplayable. Interestingly, all save one are Hyperion products. All of the bad ones exhib...
Janis Ian "Breaking Silence" 45RPM 2 disc reissue Thanks for the review. I have the AP 33 1/3 version, which I like a lot. Was wondering about "upgrading" to the new 45 - - but no more.
Need to upgrade Phono section of Rogue Cronos mag I've used an Eastern Electric tube phono preamp for about 10 years - first with an Eastern Electric integrated (M520 I think), then with a Rogue Cronus Magnum, which I still have, and currently with a PrimaLuna DiaLogue Premium integrated. The EE ...
