Is the Last Record Preservative system a worthwhile investment? Perhaps it was a case of user error . . . but many, many years ago I tried the stuff on quite a few records and found, after time, that they sounded worse (clicks, pops, etc. that were *not* present when the records were treated).I've stayed away ...
What separate tube phono stage do you use ? Agree with Chip on the Eastern Electric (sadly available only on the used market AFAIK). I've owned mine for more than 15 years, fitted with NOS (circa 1960) Mullards, and it is in use almost every day. Great sound and (knock on wood) no proble...
Onzow Stylus Tip Cleaner I've used the Onzow for years on several cartridges, including two Ortofon Jubilees and an Ortofon Cadenza mono. I've found it effective and trouble free.
Need help finding out availability of Mercury Living Presence new pressing LPs Sounds like you're interested in reissues of the Mercury LP titles. Here's a link to the current offerings of Acoustic Sounds (includes both new and used titles):https://store.acousticsounds.com/index.cfm?get=results&searchtext=mercury%20living...
Chinese phono pre Just to clarify - - my phono amp is an Eastern Electric, which I bought from the U.S. distributor, Morningstar.
Chinese phono pre I don't know what you mean by "inexpensive" - - I've owned a Morningstar phono preamp for about 10 years. It gets daily use and has performed flawlessly. They are no longer in production, but occasionally they turn up on the used market for less...
Your (perfect) record For me it's *Kind of Blue* by Miles Davis. I own several copies, reissues and originals, including a very nice 6-Eye stereo LP,
Analogue Productions Jazz, Blues and Classical 33RPM vs 45RPM advice needed!!! As you may know, some years ago Music Matters reissued a lot of Blue Note jazz titles on 45. These were done at the same time APO reissued its own Blue Note titles. There was no duplication between the MM and APO titles, and I subscribed to both...
Got a line on NOS tubes As for the tube tester, it may (will probably) need recalibration if it hasn't been used in a long while.
Oppo BDP-83 and making repairs..... Thanks for the post. I've owned this model since Jan. 2010. I use it only for Blu-Ray/DVD playback - - never had any problems at all (knock on wood), but I'll keep the info on servicing the unit on file . . . just in case.
A way to listen to a large collection The OP's basic method works well for me. Two or three times a week I will pull an LP or CD that I "forgot" I had and give it a play. Very enjoyable.
Analog "Guru" Wally Malewicz passed away Very sorry to hear the news. Wally helped me out a few times over the years with setup problems. Still use the WallyScale I bought from him many years ago. And he made a couple of excellent vodka recommendations: Luksusowa and Zubrowka. He will ...
Superb sounding Guarneri String Quartet bargain Thanks, folkfreak. I just ordered a copy.
Audiophile LP's My favorite "audiophile" recording is the 1977 D-2-D "The Direct Disc Sound of The Glenn Miller Orchestra" (GADD-1020) The music is very fine and the sound is simply stunning. If you can find a copy, buy it.
LP ? Undersized spindle hole. What noromance said: a flat blade screw driver. Been using that method for many, many years when needed, and it worked well every time. |
