Loud humming when I connect my DVD player
Your interconnects may have a broken ground. Have you tried another pair? Are the DVD prayer and Preamp plugged into the same outlet? If not: One outlet may be wired incorrectly, with regard to hot and neutral. Try reversing the phase on the DVD p...

LAK is correct, regarding burning of interconnects, because the input impedence(LOAD) is the same, whether the power amp is turned on or off. re: Speaker cables- The more volume and bass; the faster the burn-in. If you connect one speaker out of p...
tubes and moisture
Corrosion in your voice coil gaps, tube sockets and potentiometers, and deterioration of foam speaker surrounds, would probably be the most worrisome effects of high humidity. Then there's the possibility of corrosion to any other contacts, that a...

The, "best" will depend on your tastes in presentation. For me, that's been the 40's Tung-Sol round plates, of the construction shown in this guy's pics: (http://cgi.ebay.com/TUNG-SOL-6SN7GT-OVALPLATE-VT-231-NOS-RARE-6SN7-/390169929815?cmd=ViewIte...
Replacement caps for Audio Note M1
Coupling caps exert a MAJOR influence on the presentation of an amplifier. The equation is simple; cheap caps=lost music. Nature(as in a musical signal) abhors a capacitor, and ESPECIALLY a cheap one. Use those that you have mentioned and you will...
