Woofer sucking in and out
BTW: I think someone mentioned this, but- a record weight(just in the middle), will cause the circumference of some thinner vinyl records to lift off the mat. If there is an acoustic feedback issue, this will exasperate it. The one mentioned by Ct...
Woofer sucking in and out
They do work, but- the good ones are not cheap, timed cooling and all that: (http://drhifihousecalls.com.au/New%20Equipment/Furutech/Furutech%20Record%20Flattener%20DFV-1/Furutech%20Record%20Flattener.htm) It can also be done, in the oven, between...
Woofer sucking in and out
Luna- If the degree of woofer movement varies with the record; look at the circumference of the discs, as you play them. If the excursions increase with the warp of the outer edge; you've found your problem. Barring the use of a subsonic filter; a...
The sound of glasswear
Hey Audiofeil- Quit beating around the bush, and just say what's on your mind! LOTF/LMAO
The sound of glasswear
Three decades of experience with SS pres and tubes amps(in MY listening rooms). Never had a problem with a speaker, or considered a tubed amp a, "pain in the ass." Biasing the outputs is as complicated as it gets, and tube replacement just goes wi...
Any difference between tubes.
Many musicians search for NOS tubes to either warm up or put an edge on their amps's sound(tone control-same as, "audiophiles") ie: (http://thetubestore.com/12ax7review.html) and (http://www.guitaramplifierblueprinting.com/Tubeprimerandselection33...
The sound of glasswear
I've been using a modded Tact RCS 2.2aaa and a pair of Cary tubed monoblocks, for a number of years now. A wonderful degree of realism. My tweaked BAT VK-D5 has to be adding to the equation, as well(as far as digital). Don't hesitate to experiment!
loading resistor question
Ralph- Most of the loading I've done has put the resistor in parallel preamp's load resistance, and out of the actual signal path. That would account for not changing the tonality. We do know that resistors can be noisy critters though, and that w...
loading resistor question
Ralph- His, "two cents" were taken from this preamp ad: (http://mr-labs.com/theory.htm) The company has a different take on, and method of handling, MC cart loading.
mood lighting
The glow of my Cary monoblock tubes(12), and Synergistic Research active shielding LEDs(8), is all I require, to set the mood for music listening.
loading resistor question
Doak- Just a copy/paste from this site: (http://mr-labs.com/theory.htm) Good info though.
LAST Record Preservative. Do you believe?
I should have mentioned keeping those albums in Discwasher VRP sleeves, as well. Everything helped, I'm certain.
LAST Record Preservative. Do you believe?
I've been using LAST since 1980, on all my albums, after a VPI cleaning. Even those that were treating then, only require Discwasher cleaning, to sound new now. Perhaps the STYLAST I used with it helped as well, but- I'd still recommend the produc...
Do you leave your components on 24/7?
paperweight- let me rephrase something: Make that, "Comprehensively comprehensionally challenged", just for clarity.
Do you leave your components on 24/7?
Blah, blah, blah! Again- your being comprehensively challenged, has revealed itself. The very first paragraph of that treatise states, "Less appreciated, but no less important, is therole it plays in determining the quality factor, or Q, of the ca...
