Dialing in my analog rig - Need help
It's a Magnepan Unitrac I, and measures 10" from the pivot point(set back from post) to stylus. Most measure distortion figures, with regards to VTA/SRA setting, but losses of sound stage width, hall ambience cues and such(while easily discernible...

Hello Stops- The scale on my tonearm post is actually marked in .5mm increments. I've found that most of my albums fall within +/-3mm of my median setting(15mm, on the scale).

Industry standard setting for record cutting heads is(presently) 20 degrees +/-5 degrees. If records are cut close to that figure, your catridge's VTA is set accordingly(to a MEDIUM thickness record) and you play records THAT ARE NOT the same thic...

Record thickness and VTA? Here is ANOTHER take on setup: (http://www.psaudio.com/ps/how-to/how-to-adjust-the-vta-of-a-turntable/) Note the differences in presentation, vis-a-vis thickness variations. If that mediocrity is satisfying you: great. My...

I've bought a goodly number of parts from this guy(Bill), since closing my own speaker repair business. Very knowledgeable and pleasant to work with: (http://millersound.net/service.htm)

Can I swap a Stepped Attenuator for a Potentiomer?
And, since the subject came up; Percy also offers Shallco selector switches(solid silver contacts), for building either discrete resistor attenuators, or stereo selector switches. See page 13, of the aforementioned catalog. BTW: Should you decide ...
Can I swap a Stepped Attenuator for a Potentiomer?
TKD makes a very good stepped attenuator, with discrete resistors for each position. I've also used a lot of Alps and Noble controls in projects(less salty), but they are getting rare. See pages 13 & 14, of this catalog: (http://www.percyaudio...
Audio advertising, snake oil, and this:
WELL- The PRESENT administration would certainly buy it.
What companies, out of Business, did you LOVE???
Dynaco(David Hafler was an electronic artist) and California Audio Labs. Their CDPs and DACs were outstanding, for their era.
Do Mono Block amps provide better sound ??
Too many variables to make categorical statements. Separate power supplies CAN make big difference, IF they are of sufficient build quality. Crosstalk is nonexistant, but that benefit can be negated by other sonic factors. It all depends on to wha...
Power cord replacement where first?
Like Eliz says, try it on both. Let us know your thoughts.
Power cord replacement where first?
Your integrated's presentation has an effect on EVERYTHING flowing through the system. Any improvement there, would be most beneficial.
