vibrapods -- which component?
I tried them under a number of components, being careful to select those consistent with the weights of the equipment. Checked them a couple months later, to find the donut shaped cushions gone flat(rendering them useless). Wrote two(very civil) e...
Shocking 3D sound in 2 channel
The following provide tests, with which one may determine whether their system actually images, or reproduces a soundstage, as recorded. ie: On the Chesky sampler/test CD; David explains in detail, his position on the stage and distance from the m...
Shocking 3D sound in 2 channel
Mr Moon- An easy case to make, in general(ambiance recovery/vinyl vs CD). I'm guessing your friend has quite a record collection? Would they be interested in adopting a new son?
Shocking 3D sound in 2 channel
BTW: I've heard crappy pressings of the Amused to Death CD(exact same Columbia UPC 074644712728) that miserably failed to reproduce 3D effects, when compared with a good disc, on a system that performed wonderfully. SO- If you do try the Roger Wat...
Shocking 3D sound in 2 channel
Accurately recording the ambient information of an actual venue and music event, takes careful mic placement and is the most fragile(easiest lost)of what is contained in your audio signal. Your entire playback chain, source to ear, is responsible ...
Something doesn't seem right about this...
Hi, Mr Bi- Nope; you missed nothing. Your last post mentioned a, "cognizable improvement in sound", as a factor. It was on that basis that I mentioned the Selects as the higher Kimber rungs(plaids). I've always based my cable choices on their pres...

Actually; Kimber's Varistrand Silver, in the Select series, would be their top rung for conductors. The Select cables(KS-3038 or 6068, "plaid" if you will) do represent a marked increase in audible performance(realism), in a resolving system.
Good value for money speaker cables around $200
Mr G- There have been a ton of counterfeit cables coming out of China. I wouldn't take a chance, ordering anything from them. Kimber's 8TC has been around for some time, has been updated recently, has and still performs beyond more costly cables. ...

Anyone know of a source for long-fiber wool?
Won't be a problem then. They need a way in!
Anyone know of a source for long-fiber wool?
Don't forget about the moth problem:( http://www.wikihow.com/Keep-Wool-Clothing-Safe-From-Moths ). If you are going to use is as damping, in an open system or building a transmission line; bonded dacron(polyester fiberfill) works great, and doesn'...
Where to buy quality phono connectors for chassis
You'd be hard pressed to beat these, for the money(http://www.partsconnexion.com/wbt0274cu.html). They can easily be adapted, for your application. I've bought from Michael Percy, numerous times, as well(an excellent source). Radio Shack? UGH!

Intractable Problem
You said that the bad channel is playing at 5% the volume of the other. If you worded that correctly; there's a 95% reduction in volume, which could indicate a blown rail fuse, in the power amp(one of numerous possibilies, but- the easiest to corr...
