Bose 901 series VI & Yamaha A-S2000 @Vernneal: That would rather be an insult to crap. But then; everyone has their own own tastes.
Analyzing the power from the outlet PowerVar products are not designed for audio applications. I wouldn't recommend them for that use, AT ALL. The probe that they sell could be useful, if someone wanted to actually view the noise on their incoming AC though.
What to do? Same issue here. Had to sell Acoustat Model III's, after a costly divorce and downsize to a much smaller room. I was actively bi-amping the panels with a pair of transmission line woofers, built just for them. Still using the woofers, but- with a ...
Analyzing the power from the outlet Mr B- You're welcome. I was hoping someone would find it so. Happy listening!
Help on tube question The Classic 60 was designed for four matched pairs of 6550s. It's no surprise that they worked better in the amp than KT88s.
Help on tube question The Sigma 160i is designed with KT88s in mind(specifically), and offers no tube type selection switch(unlike the PA160). You may not be able to properly bias a quad of 6550s. I would strongly recommend you not try to replace just one tube with a 6...
Phono preamp with mono switch? "and GOOD SOUND would be great." The greater portion of my posts, was intended to address this desire of Howard's. IOW: Mentioning ways to achieve, "good sound", should he have interest in the GCPH. Apparently; you missed that something, in his or...
TAS - turntable setup My AcousTech electronic stylus force gauge is constructed of stainless steel. I've tested it with a neodymium magnet and no part of it can magnetically attracted.
Phono preamp with mono switch? @L- IF the OP was interested in the GCPH; he may be interested in knowing there are easy ways to upgrade it. Those other posters, that are using them, as well. What do you care, what my point might be? Are you a self-appointed Thread Nazi?
Phono preamp with mono switch? Just FYI: There's one on eBay (http://www.ebay.com/itm/PS-Audio-GCPH-Phono-Preamplifier-MM-MC-/261509261475?pt=US_Home_Audio_Amplifiers_Preamps&hash=item3ce32aa8a3) and one on Audiogon (http://app.audiogon.com/listings/phono-ps-audio-gcph-phon...
Phono preamp with mono switch? The GCPH has fairly fast rectifiers, and shows a dramatic improvement(much more realistic) in presentation, via the use of upgraded fuses(ie: Hi-Fi Tuning Supreme) and power cords. If you can solder; it's easy to install HEXFREDS and upgrade the r...
Analyzing the power from the outlet This is a device that can be plugged into a dual-trace O-scope, and will display the high freq noise, on your incoming AC(both line to neutral and neutral to ground): (http://pdf.textfiles.com/manuals/STARINMANUALS/ETA/Manuals/Power%20Probe.pdf) H...
Opinions on bang for the buck on TT & tonearm @Mr L- The OP asked about, "Bang for Buck" turntables and arms. That's what we addressed. I'm assuming they are capable of doing their own research, and picking from the VPIs available(drives/suspensions/arms), according to their tastes. That a ca...
Opinions on bang for the buck on TT & tonearm Second on VPI.
Speaker cable manufacturers The Big Silver Oval is proven, "sure bet." I've got them on my mains, and they simply get out of the way of the music. They made more than one iteration. Try to find the latest(IF you can find someone, willing to part with them): (http://www.analy... |
