Need help determining next upgrade - 3rd ATTEMPT Have you tried a little toe-in, on your speakers? Do you have anything on the side walls & ceiling, to combat reflections? (http://stereos.about.com/od/optimizingperformance/a/treatments.htm)
Looking for "realistic" speakers No; they won't change their dispersion pattern, regardless of the hours played. Planars are narrow dispersion, by nature. IOW: you have to be sitting in a sweet spot, to get musical enjoyment/realism. The best at what you crave are Walsh or MBL(ou...
The sound of my new electrical service: Day 1 To really view the noise, riding your AC lines; a Hewlett-Packard 3577A Spectrum Analyzer is handy. Typical line noise will be seen from 100Hz to 1mHz(and beyond). Has anyone mentioned conductors, randomly placed in a conduit, will induce voltages...
how do I switch voltage on amp? Are you certain it has a dual voltage transformer? If it does; whether you can, would depend on your skills at rewiring a transformer's primary(generally, from series to parallel). Easy, with experience and a color code, or numbered leads.
SDS or phono stage Enjoy your music!
Ssssh, is your tube preamp really that quiet? When choosing tubes, for a pre or phono section; it's imperative to seek out those that are tested, and certified, for that purpose(Low Noise). Of course; your provider has to know how to properly screen valves. ie: Upscale Audio ( https://www.ups...
How do I handle a blown ATC 7? Contact Bill at Millersound. Chances are good that he will be able to re-surround your woofers, at a very reasonable price. (http://www.millersound.net/)
What is going on Just like any other market; Whatever you have is worth whatever someone is willing to pay for it. What's asked is just a starting point. If it's worth too much to you; you get to keep it.
SR XOT Transducer ? He has a comprehensive list of his gear on his, 'system' page.
What are some good inexpensive CD players I've owned both the Sigma and Alpha DACs, in the past. Kinda wish I still had the Alpha! Have you considered rolling the tubes in the Alpha? If yours is a 24/96 model; you shouldn't need more resolution. Personally; if I still owned the Alpha, I w...
SDS or phono stage Good idea, for those that track cartridge/stylus hours.
SDS or phono stage Use the TT's switch and watch voltage display on your powered-up SDS. You'll notice that the drive senses start-up voltage requirement and provides it, then reduces again(your, "specified power sequence"). Just a BTW; I always start the platter an...
"Slam"--what is it, is it really accurate? Mr K- Like I said......
why do hi-end fuses keep blowing, while std don't? If both the standard and upgrade fuses were blowing, the tubes would be the first thing I would suspect and test. Since only the upgrades are going, and especially given that the tubes are new(not that new tubes don't/can't cause problems), I woul...
why do hi-end fuses keep blowing, while std don't? Those two sentences seem to indicate total ignorance, from the manufacturer of any amp. Not surprising, from those with the hubris of McIntrash. Of course; that's just my own personal opinion, based on personal experience with both. |
